Good Morning
Still in shock from my diagnosis yesterday I have looked on my NHS app and a letter has now been added to my account copied below so this was after the Hysteroscopy and the results have obviously come back to show I have cancer , what does the 11mm mean is that really bad, medium bad ? any one have any clues .
Ultrasound scan performed prior to the consultation today showed an endometrial thickness
of 11mm and suggestion of a polyp. For this reason, | have recommended a diagnostic
hysteroscopy +/- polypectomy and she has consented to this in outpatients today. The
hysteroscopy appeared to be well tolerated using Entonox throughout, no polyp was
identified however, there was a thickened vascular appearance which did look suspicious on
the anterior wall.
Hi Linda, thickness can depend on a number of things including age and whether you’re pre, peri or post menopausal. I was post menopausal when diagnosed and my lining was 11mm which I was told was only slightly thicker than it should be.
Hi Linda. This waiting period is so difficult. Well done for tolerating the hysteroscopy. For me my lining was 22mm so much thicker than yours. I had an MRI after my hysteroscopy and that confirmed early stage endometrial cancer. I had a hysterectomy in August and that confirmed stage 1a cancer. I needed no more treatment after my surgery and I recovered really quickly.
My advice would be to take one stage at a time and put your trust in all the knowledgeable and experienced doctors and nurses who will hold your hand through this and will take very good care of you.
Thank you for this, the lead nurse who gave me my news well lets just say from her face and the way she said I'm so sorry to tell you this to finishing with you may not be able to have a hysterectomy if its spread to its genetic and you would have not been able to prevent it I walked out of that room feeling like my death certificate was signed, this group has been fantastic waiting until Monday for the test and Wednesday for the results scared me as I just think of it growing but from here I see people have waited longer and are still here having beaten it..I have a glimmer of hope and that is all I need.

Thank you I am taking everything on board and am trying to be patient (not my strong point) but this has made me feel so much better...and the Hysteroscopy was horrendous I had gas and air and remembered how good that stuff is never thought after having my last child 32 years ago I would be having it again .
