Hi All

Well its just the weirdest feeling isn't it to be told you have cancer! I had a small bleed just before xmas post menopausal I am 62 this year , so went to DR sent for 2 week referral had an internal ultrasound and then referred for a Hysteroscopy I was told I would have a call today with my results , they phoned me Tuesday to change to a F2F so I kinda new what was coming.

I am know having a CT scan on Monday ..I am the worlds worst scaredy cat on closed spaces having a panic attack already about it Disappointed  I will then get my results on Wednesday to see if its spread... its scary stuff isn't it .. lost of tears on and off today with hubby just be glad when Wednesday is here, all I can remember her saying is this is a genetic cancer and asking about family history. I lost a sister to Ovarian cancer ??

Guess I just want to say hello and I am scared of what's ahead but how amazing this group is from what I have read today and I am so glad you are here .

Linda

  • Hello, and welcome to the forum (although sorry you have to be here).

Have you had a CT scan before ?  As they'll be scanning your lower half, I think your head will be well outside the machine so it shouldn;t be that claustrophobic.

  • Hi Linda,

Sorry to hear your news.  Re the CT scan, I found this a breeze compared to having a hysteroscopy…mine was combined with PET scan  I didn’t find it that enclosed, and at any point in time could look out at the rest of the room.

  • Sorry to hear your news. I was diagnosed in July this year and am having hormone treatment at the moment. The worst part is the waiting for results etc....but try to keep busy and it will soon pass. I take each day at a time, baby steps and try not to think about it all the time. It's hard but does get easier! Sending good wishes to you.

  • I coped with hysteroscopy ..gas and air forgot how good it was .. PET scan not had one ..yet!!

  • Hi Linda, just wanted to reassure you that the CT scanner is like a giant polo with a lot of space between you and it - the MRI is the one that is more tube like, and more likely to lend itself to claustrophobia (which I combatted btw by wearing an eye mask).if your pelvic area Is being CT scanned both your head and legs will be out as the machine is not very long. If that makes sense!
