Hi there I am 61 I started spotting in august only now and then I am under a gynaecologist for an ovarian cyst anyway they did another scan and said my endometrial thickness had gone from 3mm to 5mm in a few months and I needed to have an hystoscopy which I had 9 days ago they couldn’t do biopsies due to scaring I’m now waiting for MRI scan for further investigation I bled for 2 days after hystoscopy then stopped last 3 days have been spotting again like pink blood is this normal.

  • Hi Tin123

    Welcome to the Womb group.

I am sorry to hear of your ovarian cyst and spotting.

It is normal to be referred for a scan when there is a concern about spotting/endometrial thickness. The increase in the thickness of the womb lining and also the bleeding can have causes that are not cancer, but they like to rule out the potentially more serious causes first.

It can also sometimes happen that biopsies can not be taken for some reason. The MRI would be the usual next step as it is another way of having a more detailed look.

After my biopsy I did have some bleeding for around a day.

If you are concerned then perhaps give you doctor a call in the morning for some reassurance. At my doctors I am able to do an online consultation and it maybe that would be an option for you.

I hope you do not have to wait too long for the MRI. In the meantime we are here if you need us.

  • Hi Tina

The waiting can be the worst bit. I remember I just wanted to know for sure what was going on and it was hard to think of much else.

Maybe ask if there is a cancellation list available where you could go in at short notice, if that might help?

I wish you luck for the 6th but in the meantime we are here if you need us.
