Hi just like to say I’m new here and fairly newly diagnosed.. it started with the menopause and being period free for 5yrs then in may started spotting which I thought nothing off as I’ve had pcos, so rarely had periods.. well in August I had a full blown period 10-15 days with blood clots. Backache and all the other symptoms you get through that time.. my daughter luckily for me was having none of my rubbish and made me go to my gp (I wasn’t going as I wasn’t worried, as this was normal for me). It took me 3wks to get in to see a dr but he referred me straight away to the gynaes at my local hospital.. to my amazement they saw me the next day and cos the dr was happy with the thickness of my womb she sent me straight to their early prevention unit the very next day for a hysteroscopy.. the dr who done that procedure was not happy with what she saw and took a sample and arranged a mri and another hysteroscopy but this time asleep. Which I had the following wk.. when going for this I was told there and then I had cancer they weren’t sure whether it was 1a or 1b this was due to me havin a panic attack in the mri machine so I moved so much… well I was then transferred to the royal marsden for treatment.. where I under went a total robotic assisted hysterectomy… I had that all done in such a short time diagnosed proper on October 4th and hysterectomy November the 8th.. now ov been very lucky, my cancer was caught very early.. it was downgraded to a 1 as the results come back that it was all contained in the womb, the shadowing on the mri was a fibroid just a normal 1, so they’ve decided at this time I don’t need anything further for this.. but when they done my ct scan they found lesions/density in my breasts so now they’ve sorted that end they are going to check my breasts.. I do however have a negative that really does worry me.. when he gave my results he told me when they done the washout I had free flowing cancer cells in my abdomen.. now he’s hoping that it’s nothing, but he says he’s considering a laparoscopy op to check things out… does anybody know what this actually means or even had it.. I have a few nurse friends and they are slightly concerned bout that…
sorry for the long winded post.. it’s just I have nobody at home I can talk too
regards
wendy
Hi Wendy
Welcome to the Womb group.
I am sorry to hear of your cancer and subsequent hysterectomy. I hope that you are recovering well from the surgery.
Hopefully the breast checks will be done quickly and come back as reassuring.
With regard to the cancer cells in the peritoneal fluid it does sound like further investigation is a good plan to investigate where they have originated from and whether any further treatment is advisable. Although he is hoping that it is nothing, the laparoscopy does sound like a sensible next step. Hopefully this can be done soon for you.
if talking things through would help, then please do give the Support line a call. The details are below and they are lovely on there.
