Hi,

Update on my journey, I was diagnosed with carcinoma sarcoma after having a hysterectomy to get rid of a tumour that was thought to be contained i have just been told it has cone back. I have a 10cm tumour in my pelvis. I am devastated. I only had my op in July and it's back all ready. They say they can't do any more surgery so will give me chemo to shrink and manage it. I'm very scared as its came back so so quick. Just wondering if anyone else has had the same. TIA

Lisa

  • Hi Nannytobe, I’m sorry to hear about your recurrence. It does sound frustrating regarding the histology report taking so long and thus your treatment getting delayed. It’s also natural to have “what ifs” scenarios in our heads. Wishing you all the best and hope your chemo start as soon as possible without any issues.

  • Hi, thank you, yes I can't help but feel frustrated atm but I'm just taking it day by day. Hopefully I will be able to start my Chemo next week and shrink this tumour x

  • Sorry to hear this - i hope you have an easier time with the chemo now and it can start to shrink hte turmour

  • Thank you, so do I. It's just all a bit scary

  • More bad news, spoke to my surgeon today she said there are multiple masses in my abdomen. Doesn't sound very good. They are going to give me chemo to see if that can shrink them

  • Hi Lisa

Am sorry to hear that you have had more bad news. Hopefully the chemo will deal with them. Have they told you when it can start?

  • No not yet i spoke to my surgeon today. The medical oncology team are supposed to be ringing me tomorrow. Just hope it's soon. I'm barely functioning now, it's so hard xx

  • It must be really hard. Have you support at home? Friends/family. It does make a difference.

I hope they call you first thing. In the meantime we are here, so do not feel alone.

Chemo can be really effective at shrinking cancer and getting things under control.

  • Yes I have a great network of family and friends around me, but at the minute I just feel so alone. I'm trying to stay positive but it's hard. Hopefully they ring early and I can get this chemo started ASAP xx

  • I understand. There were moments in my cancer journey where even though I had a lot of people around, I did feel alone. Although at times it can be good to try to be positive, there are times when it can be difficult and sometimes better perhaps to just go with the emotions- it is understandable to feel worried, upset and even angry.  You've had some bad news and it is natural for it to set you back. Hopefully once you have had the phone call and the plan in place for the chemo, it is something to focus/work on.

During the tougher times I found it best to try to stick to some sort of normal routine. Maybe try to plan something positive to do tomorrow once you have had the call. Even if it is to put your feet up and watch something on tv with a cuppa. A soak in the bath- a bit of me time.
