Symptoms anxiety and the waiting!

Hi all!

I am new in this community.

I had a hysteroscopy follow a suspected polyp on the ultrasound.

No polyp seen, but the endometrial cavity had alterations - polypoid, according to the report. I didn't made questions, I just wanted to leave that day behind.

Now I am waiting for the biopsy results and it has been a complete rollercoaster. I have quite severe anxiety. It has been really hard! I have done the procedure and got booked an appointment at the time to receive the results 4 weeks post procedure.

Not knowing is a struggle. Reading about symptoms and risk factors just makes me angry and so scared because my period got more intense last year and I let it go! What prompted me to see a doctor was urinary changes with 2 UTI this year and pain on my right side, lower back and down to the front of my leg!

There was no mention of malignancy so far, so I am sorry if I trigger you because I am coming from a place of fear whilst I know you are actually dealing with your diagnosis!

How did you cope with the waiting?

Thank you!

  • Hi i am sorry this is so stressful - i am so grateful that the team i was referred to are fast tracking everything incl giving results by phone if agreed; even so any wait is difficult. Can you ring and see if the results are there and if they will give them in writing or by phone, or offer to take a cancellation appointment if one comes up?

  • Hello,

    Welcome to the Womb group.

Waiting for the results is really hard and it is natural to feel anxious and worried.

If you feel talking to someone would help, then please do give the Support Line a call.

    The details are below.

I wonder if it would be worth calling the hospital and asking whether you could be phoned when the results come through. I had my results via phone on arrangement as I felt it may be quicker than waiting for an appointment. You could still attend the appointment that has been arranged. Another thing to ask is if there is any chance of being on a cancellation list- so if results do come through and there is availability you could perhaps go in earlier.

Also it may be worth contacting your GP. Mine often got results through before I did as mine were sent by post whereas my GP got sent everything electronically. Your GP may also be able to give some extra support with your anxiety.

  • Thanks for your comment. Already tried to ask for the results but was told the results go straight to the Dr and they're on hols. Had it done privately so system may be slightly different!

  • Thanks :) I had the procedure privately and the doc is on hols. I just have to wait.

I am on therapy and discussed this in my session. It's hard not knowing, even though I know that the worry will not help or make any difference!

    Thanks Pray
