Hi, I am new here today and I am sad to hear of your diagnosis. I have just been diagnosed with Endometrial Stage 2 cancer. I will have a full hysterectomy next week. I have been into hospital for a biopsy, very very painful and a internal examination a CT scan and a consultation with the surgeon and anaesthetist all within 3/4 weeks. It is exhausting. I felt very alone before I came on here. This morning I also phoned the support line as I was very tearful and angry at the same time. It really is a rollercoaster of emotions. For my family and friends I have played it down, especially my elderly mother. My partner also is struggling as his previous partner died of cancer, so he brought up their child on his own. I don't feel he is supportive of me with my cancer.

I wish you all the best xx

  • Hi Shiqween

Welcome the the Online Community and the Womb group.

I am sorry to hear of your diagnosis of endometrial cancer and I remember my own and it is very normal to feel exhausted and alone with it. My feelings were all over the place. A rollercoaster is a good description. I am really pleased that you felt able to call the Support Line and I hope that it was helpful.

Having a diagnosis of cancer, in my experience sends out a sort of ripple to family and friends- they also have their own experiences, fear and concerns that they sometimes deal with in their own way. I can understand why you feel you do not want to worry your elderly Mum.

Things can start to move quickly following the diagnosis for some people and I was also about a month from start to the hysterectomy. How are you feeling about the hysterectomy? Once I knew about my cancer, I just wanted it to go ahead asap and to get the cancer removed. Mine was pretty straightforward, I had little pain and recovered quickly. I was in hospital for 1 night.

I will pop a link to some info that may be of help.

  • I also have stage 2 endometrial cancer. I'm waiting for a date for my op. I'm finding the wait rather testing. Just to say I've found this forum so helpful. It really helps me in not feeling so isolated. People have been great in answering my questions. I'm gradually telling people I know and responses so far have all been different. I'm reassured to know there are people on this forum and the phone line to help you and me and all the others.

  • I'm hoping you get the date for your op soon. I was relieved that mine was almost immediately after the diagnosis. I think it's probably a postcode lottery. I feel that most people are caring if you tell them but others have cruel stories of themselves or other people's cancer. We are all individuals in this world so I don't listen to them. One relative even said " oh you know these things come in three's" so insensitive. I had endometriosis most of my adult life I guess and only found out when I wanted to get pregnant. I never had any children. I'm just finding out now what help I can get as I live alone and will probably need help after the operation. It is a worrying and exhausting time. I am here if you need to chat.

    Best wishes x

  • Hi I live alone and was worried about that. I did quite a bit of meal prep for freezer, and also had a couple of friends who came for a few days each in the 1st couple of weeks. Cleaned my house from top to toe before the surgery- so I was fine for a while!

  • That sounds like a great idea, my dogs are going to live with my bf for a few days before I go in on Thursday so I will spring clean the place! I also have a robot vacuum that mops as well so that will make things easier. I'm going to get food deliveries sorted out. I hope your recovery goes well. Thank you for your reply

    Kind wishes

  • Hi am completely recovered from the surgery ( 5 months ago). Had adjuvant radiotherapy afterwards and just a few residual side effects- but all good now thanks!

  • Someone I know messaged me to suggest I move things I use regularly in advance to waist height. She said priority for her was pants and the biscuit tin!

  • Wow that's good to know. I'm so pleased for you x

  • Haha that's funny but very useful!

Thanks to you and your friend xx

  • Other suggestion - keep a stool in the kitchen so you don’t have to bend down to the lower cupboards!
