Newly diagnosed 34 endometrial cancer

Hi all, I’m new to all this so apologies if someone else has already started a thread.

Last month I was diagnosed with stage 1 endometrial cancer after being told I had severe atypical hyperplasia in January. This comes after 6 long years of trying to get pregnant. I’ve always had pcos although the doctors were never sure if I did or not.

I am currently being treated with a progesterone coil which was fitted when they found the hyperplasia and a MRI has confirmed that the cancer has not spread outside of my womb. All being good the doctors are hopefully they can cure the cancer within a year or so.

I am so confused about my fertility journey since the diagnosis and even though I’ve tried to get pregnant for all this time and it was all I ever wanted, I have now found myself being so scared to do any fertility treatments if I get the all clear. The doctors have chosen to give me fertility sparing treatment so I can go straight into ivf if I get the all clear but that sounds too much for me.

has anyone here had any experience with getting pregnant after having endo cancer? If so what was it like? I’m 34 and I just never imagined I would ever be faced with this. I’m so confused!

much love xx

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I don't have the experience you're looking for but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.

While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Hi Clairr

Welcome to the Womb group. I am sorry to hear of your diagnosis of endometrial cancer. I can remember what a scary time it was when I first heard those words.

Here is some info that I found helpful so I will pop a link below for you.

It is great that they feel they can treat you for the time being with the mirena coil. It does sound promising that they feel the cancer is contained within your womb.

I can understand you feeling confused about your fertility journey- I think that having a diagnosis of cancer can knock you side ways and it is natural to question things. Have you got a fertility consultant that you can talk things through with?

I wonder if it might be worth you giving the Support Line a call and having a chat with one of the nurses. They would be able to talk you through what you could expect if you do go ahead and decide to be a Mum. At the moment you have a lot to take in and it can feel a bit overwhelming. The nurses are lovely on there and sometimes it can be easier to talk things through with someone that is a bit more removed from what you are going through.

In the meantime, there are a lovely bunch of ladies on here who will want to offer support. So do ask away if there is anything you want to know.

    Take care

    Jane
