Hi I’m new on here. I had a hysterectomy just over 4 weeks ago. I will be having 5 weeks of daily radiotherapy and 2 sessions of brachytherapy. I think it will be starting in a couple of weeks time and I am quite anxious about it after reading about all the side effects. Looking for reassurance.
Hi Luckygirl, welcome to the group and well done for having had your op and feeling able to go forward with the recommended treatment, If you click on my name and read my bio you will see that I had the same treatment as you in 2022. Mine was for grade 1a stage 2. I had been expecting to stay grade 1a and stage 1 and not to need any adjuvant treatment so it kind of floored me when I was told.
Where are you reading about the side effects? I’d strongly advise you not to Google. Use this group and website instead as it’s far more reliable, I’d also like to refer you to this dedicated thread for Radio and Brachy Support which may help reassure you! community.macmillan.org.uk/.../radiotherapy-support-thread-inc-brachytherapy
Thank you for your reply. I had a stage 2 and grade 2 tumour. I had a look at the radio/brachy threads, and it was helpful. It’s nice to know that there is so much support on this site.
No not yet. The CSN suggested I would be hearing very soon.
