Hello everyone,
I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer on 26th April. I've had my MRI, CT scan and various appointments and I will have my hysterectomy in 3 days (including removal of lymph nodes). I will then need to wait for results to see if I need further treatment. I have been focused on the medical actions that are going to be taken and have utter confidence in my consultant and CNS.
However I'm not sure the gravity of my situation has hit me yet. I keep waiting for the realisation to hit me like a bolt of lightening. I have great support around me, but I feel a bit of a fake as I feel perfectly ok. I have people concerned for me and I feel fine. Has anyone else experienced this.
Hi Jules, it’s great to see you here and I’m so glad you’re doing well with your recovery. Best advice I heard on here was “listen to your body” - for me that meant doing a bit more when I felt like it, and doing less when I didn’t, and not doing something again if it didn’t feel ok. All in all I too was surprised how well I felt. That can make it tempting to do more than we should, but as long as you remember the guidelines, listen to your body and take occasional time to rest (preferably with feet up) you should be fine. For me, in the early recovery days, for every half hour or so up and about I had a sit down for 5-10 mins. Hope you continue to recover well and please feel free to ask any questions.
Hi Jules65.
Congratulations and it sure looks like your positive gave you wings.
All the best for speed recovery
Had a call from my lovely CNS yesterday just checking again how I was recovering (2 wks post-op) and making sure I had no issues. Confirmed that they expect my histology results back in time for next weeks Friday MDT and I should have my follow up appointment first week July.
So I have another 10/14 days believing they 'got it all'
HI Elaine, I am doing well and my wounds are healing nicely (my surgery was laproscopic). Sorry to hear yours is not the same, hope this improves quickly. I would have thought this will need to be healed before chemo can start although I have no idea in reality. How long ago was your surgery?
As of yet I don't know if I need any further treatment so I am keeping fingers crossed.
Hi Elaine, did you have open surgery or laparoscopic? I had laparoscopic, with three wounds, one of which took longer to heal than the others but it eventually did before my radio started.
Hi Jules65.
Hope MDT covers you as expected today and all the best for your results review.
Hi CrumpetsOrToast,
Thanks for your message. Just had a call from the secretary and my results review is on Tuesday afternoon, so not too long to wait. Fingers crossed
Jules
