I was diagnosed with Endometrial Cancer a week ago today. On Monday I had an MRI scan and have just been told that I now need a CT scan. They are also arranging for surgery asap. Everything is happening fast which is good but it's a lot to take in. In the meantime, I feel fine I have a good appetite and I sleep well is this usual?

    Hi

It was the same for me diagnosed 12th September, CT scan in 5 days then full surgery 6th Oct, 3:weeks ago and doing very well .

Must say it was a total shock but today I've heard that I'm Stage 1a, no spread to ovaries, lymph nodes and omentum  but am a grade 3 so have to look out for reoccurrence!

But yaaa, good luck, quick is good xx

Ps I'm in bed for 10 to 12 hours per night and eat sooo much, healthy stuff Smile

    Good luck, Zoe

  • Hi

Thanks for the reply giving your experience.

I am hoping this forum will help with all my questions as they arise. I know the professionals have the answers, but nothing can beat firsthand experience.

    Thanks, all the best

  • Hi Astra

Sorry for your diagnosis, this is a great place to come for support. The ladies here are caring and have a wealth of knowledge. And have helped me through this difficult journey.

I too felt good before being diagnosed, slept well , ate well and was very active

I was diagnosed back in July of this year with endometrial carcinosarcoma  stage 1a

I had a  radical laparoscopic hysterectomy Sept 14 and I am now on the other side no spread and no need for further treatment

That is good things are happening fast for you!! It is a lot to take in , but once you get your surgery date everything calms down and you will soon be on the other side recovering!!
    wishing you all the best

  • Hello Astra1

So sorry you have been diagnosed with EC. You have found a good place to connect with some lovely ladies who are or have been on this journey and they will be along soon to offer support or advice if you need it. You are not alone.

Like you, November 2021 I was shocked my biopsy came back showing cancer! It was unbelievable since I felt so well apart from some post menopausal bleeding I was living a normal life had healthy appetite, was working and running a home as well as being wife mother and grandmother but I felt well. When the gynaecologist took biopsy he even said everything looked ok and nothing too serious going on!

So yes it is normal at this very early stage to feel normal.

It is a lot to take in and you will be able to ask your CNS (clinical nurse specialist) for info you may have missed or any questions you may have! Just ask your gynaecology department.

In the meantime we are here and if you would like to get an idea of my past story please read my bio by clicking on Madesp.

I can tell you that I am well and just had a scan for my 3-month check-up and don't get results till next week but trying to stay calm and focus on other things in my life.I don't want the cancer to take centre stage again!!!

Ask anything else you need to know and we'll be back to answer for you, take care xx

  • Hello Reimo it's so good you are stage 1a,so it was caught very early,  like myself and I too am grade 3.

Chemotherapy was optional for me and I took it, I also had 3xbrachytgerapy, how about yourself? Have you been advised to have further treatment?

    Take care xx

Did you opt for any RT or Chemo?

Good luck with your results xx

Sorry I've just seen your response re treatment, when my nurse called today she said they will offer me adjuvant treatment but I'm going it alone with healthy diet, vitamin supplements and started cPraycuminPrayPray

  • Rt was not offered only brachytherapy x 3 sessions and they wanted me to decide whether I wanted to go ahead with Paclitaxel and Carboplatin x6 cycles because of its toxicity and the fact that I was already possibly cured they said I might be overtreated needlessly but since presence of cancer cells in bloodstream cannot be ruled out I decided to have it but only managed 3 cycles carbo Taxol and final 3 cycles of Carboplatin only due to severe reactions on first three cycles. I'm hoping any stray cells were eradicated!

    How about you?xx

  • Hi Mad

Thanks for the reply. I am beginning to see how supportive this group is. I like you don't want cancer to dominate my life I'm still me. It was hard telling my family but now I want them to treat me as usual.
