My mom 69 is 4 weeks post op and we would like her to get a check up of the vaginal cuff to make sure it's all healing OK- no signs of cancer. Do you just contact the CN specialist please or see your GP. Thanks for your responses. I would also like to know if there is anyone else with a diagnosis of Serous carcinoma please.
Hi Gardening Guru, I appreciate you’re worried and anxious, but it’s best to just wait for the results and the treatment plan and go on from there. Your mum will still be healing and likely sore inside and I can’t imagine she’d want an internal exam yet. Speculums aren’t nice at the best of times and this isn’t even the best of times! I was lucky enough to get my results two weeks post op, then saw the oncologist about ten days after that. At that time she said an internal would likely be too uncomfortable for me and that it could wait. I started radio on 11/4, and finished almost 2 weeks ago. I had 2 sessions of brachy too, and had a gentle internal examination beforehand with finger only. I won’t have an internal to check healing till my check up with my oncologist on 1st July. By all means I’d suggest chase the results - you can contact your CNS for that - and I’d also recommend sharing your anxieties too as that may help you. There’s several ladies on the group who’ve had a serous diagnosis - Robin27 and Madesp for example and I’m sure they will drop by here soon.
MarmiteFan59thank you for taking the time to respond. I have so many questions but trying hard to be strong for mom. Will follow your advice.
Hi Gardening guru. I agree with MarmiteFan59 to wait until the treatment plan is set up by the hospital team. At this point your GP has handed over your Mum's care to the Hospital Gynae team so the GP won't be able to help. The hospital gynae team will do an internal probably about 6 weeks post op (That's when mine was done with an extremely gentle insertion of a speculum)
Chat with your Mum's CNS for reassurance if need be but it seems things seem to progressing normally. (but never quick enough for us)
I was stage 1B/ grade 3 serous adenocarcinoma. If you type serous carcinoma into the search bar at the top of the page you might find others, who have had the same grade, may have some answers until any of the ladies here reply.
Sending hugs, Barb xx

Dear MrsBJH thank you. We have an appt at the Royal Marsden for June 6th so at least things are moving. I am in 2 minds about contacting another gyneo oncologist who is also a professor in gyneo/ uterine cancers as i just want to get some reassurance this is treatable. I am getting all her medical records together as we speak. I am worried that they did not do any lymph node sampling or sampling of the omentum. I think he did a frozen section and peritoneal wash. Thank you so much for your response. It means so much that you respond to my post.
Hi Gardening guru I also had Serous and Clear cell cancer Grade 3 stage 2 - I think I’ve responded to you on another thread about my experience ? If you can’t find it I’m happy to share

Mrsceedee. Thank you so much..I will have another look. Best wishes.
Gardening guru Im fine thank you, now 8 weeks post operation and hopefully starting chemoradiation next Thursday- my main hiccup has been an infection of my wound ( before leaving hospital) that is still not completely healed so I’m having daily dressing, this may delay treatment start a few days but I’m not worried. If I could give you one piece of advice if I may, it would be to relax a bit and breathe - I can understand you being worried about your mum, but once she’s seen the oncologist and has a treatment plan you will at least know what’s happening next, unless you don’t have faith in mums current oncology team there would be little point in contacting another specialist, try and be patient as there is a lot of waiting, for appointments scans treatment etc etc but let the specialists do what they are doing, mum needs your positive support, don’t let her cancer take over who you and she are, you will get there, believe me.
hugs
Chrissie xx
Hi Gardening guru, sorry for the late reply. I'd wait until after your appointment at the Royal Marsden on June 6th and then decide after if you feel it necessary to contact another specialist. Royal Marsden is a top hospital for cancer treatment so you'll be in good hands
