Hi everyone- I'm new to all of this.

Had hysterectomy for endometrial cancer on 11/4. Home on 12/4

First symptoms were 14/3 so all been a bit of a whirlwind.

  • Hi Jane2511

It's great you have had your operation so soon. I hope you make a speedy recovery from your op. You'll get a follow up in a couple of weeks time when you will get a staging/grading of your cancer and told whether any further treatment is recommended. I had external radiotherapy after mine.

Mine was a whirlwind too, but the good thing was it didn't give me time to think too much about it - too much to organise! I felt better after the op that it was all out, and even though I was recommended further treatment, I was able to look forward to the future with renewed hope.

Don't be afraid to ask any questions or even post how you're feeling. The ladies on here are super supportive. They have all been through it.

  • Hi Jane

It’s good you had your operation quickly, and I wish you a speedy recovery.

I had my operation on 15/02 after being diagnosed on 26/01. It all moves so quickly, so is a little scary. Found out my cancer was stage 3, so I’ve a meeting with the Oncologist next Tuesday to discuss further treatment, which I’ve been told will be chemo and radiotherapy.

You should be contacted in a few weeks for a follow up appointment with your consultant, but if you’ve any questions/concerns you can contact them or the specialist nurse. I found mine really helpful.

    Good luck with your recovery.

    Karen x

  • Hi and a warm welcome to our spot in the Online Community. We're a group of super supportive ladies so if you've any questions or concerns fire away and we'll try to help.

That was really quick the speed at which you had your symptoms looked at and the operation that followed. Hope you're taking it easy now you're home.

Normally histology results come back in two to three weeks. That will confirm what stage/grade you are then your team will discuss further treatment if necessary.

  • Hi Jane, hopefully you will feel a little bit better every day. Hope it’s sunny where you are and that you’re able to get outside for some fresh air! I had my hysterectomy on 22/1 so can empathise. I was very glad when I didn’t have to wear those stockings any more! Were you given any indication as to probably grade and stage before your op (from a hysteroscopy or scan) or did you go straight to having your op?

    • Hi Jane. It has been a whirlwind for you and I hope you have a speedy recovery. I bet you feel relieved to have had your op and everything gone.  At least you will soon know what further treatment you need.  Best wishes for that  All the lovely ladies on here that have been through it will help and advise you.  Its so encouraging talking to ladies who have been on the journey and doing good.

    • I am still waiting for my op and it really is a worrying time. I spoke to my CNS the other day and she said because of staff shortages and now bank holidays it has put my op back a bit. I hope its soon because Im really struggling at the moment.  Just having a bad day.  X

  • Hiya- yes its nice and sunny here. The nurse oncologist said it was early stage. Consultant before operation said stage 1 or half way between stage 1 and 2. Didnt say anything about grade. After the operation he said it was confined to my womb. It was a comment by a nurse who said he can't say that with out the path results that worried me. I didnt have a hysteroscope- had a scan and the nurse had results the next day. i was then called in for the biopsy. The CT scan didnt show any spread

  • Hi Poppy- I was lucky to get my op so quickly- i saw the consultant on Friday last week and had the op on Monday. Lucky to get in before Easter. I hope you get yours done soon. Just wanted mine out as soon as I knew. I am sorry you are struggling. I really did in the week before the op but once I had a date it did help. Its sorting all the practical bits as well. The hospital were lovely. Trying to focus one step at a time and get over the op. i am glad I found this on here
