At 62 and living alone, i am still coming to terms with my diagnosis just 6 days ago and somehow have  found myself here. I feel quite fortunate that it appears my cancer is grade 1 and the prognosis is as good as it possible to be. I just had my mri on Friday and now iit is the waiting game.

I am so glad to have found this forum. Whilst my daughters and a few close friends know about my diagnosis, i really don't want to worry them anymore than they are already, and i dont want all our conversations to revolve around my cancer "situation"

I am all at once reassured and a bit scared reading the posts here. It is beginning to dawn on me that this is a journey that will not necessarily end with my hysterectomy. But i am a realist too and i would always rather know what to expect, and I can see this forum is a wonderful source of practical assistance as well as moral support.

I have a feeling i am going to get to know you ladies very well!

  • Hi KAC and welcome to the group! I’m 62 as well, and had my diagnosis and then MRI in November 2021. After you get your results, you will get a pre assessment appointment for your op, and then an op date. I’m also a person who’d rather know what’s what and have been especially like this re my cancer journey, which I think is because, though I’m not in control of this, I can at least know what may happen, and that’s a kind of next best option and gives me some kind of comfort. So I can relate to your outlook. Please do feel free to click on my name and read my profile, and to ask any questions at all that occur to you. Hope you hear soon.

  • Hi . Joining this forum was possibly the best thing I ever did. Finding ladies who are all in the same situation, feeling a little lost and scared but here you're not alone, we've all been there and are at the same point or a little further down the line so we'll offer advice and support.

Tell us how you came to find yourself here. Why not take a few moments to update your profile. It's always helpful for us to read if we want to ask you questions and you also won't end up repeating yourself. You can enter it into your profile (click on your username and select “Profile”) . You can amend or update it at any time. If you’re not sure what to write, just click on my username.

If you want to ask any of us any questions please come back and do so. There's always someone around and we can offer a shoulder to cry on, a hand to hold or listen to a rant, we’re here for you.

It might also be a good idea to download this booklet Understanding Womb (Endometrial) Cancer. I found it invaluable on my journey.

Click on the link I’ve created to find out more information covering diagnosis and treatments for Womb cancer.

You might also find this link to what to take in my overnight bag useful for when you have surgery.

It’s always good to talk and the Macmillan Support Services provides lots of information, support, financial guidance or just a listening ear. It's free to call on 0808 808 00 00  8am to 8pm, 7 days a week. Have a look to see what is available by Clicking here .

There is also an Ask an Expert section, but you should allow two to three working days for replies from our expert team.

Sending you welcoming hugs, Barb xx
