Hi Everyone,

I've joined today as I was diagnosed with Womb Cancer last week. I can't believe how quickly everything is moving, from my initial GP call for Post-Menopausal bleeding in March to diagnosis/MRI scan to meeting specialist next week, where I'll also have my pre-op done. Thankfully it's Grade 1 but you know how it is, you can't help imagine all kinds of scenarios. It feels like I'm in a whirlwind and getting thrown from one thing to the next so feel I've had to get my head around everything PDQ. I'm very overweight due to knee and back problems but I'm trying my best to stay positive and changed my diet to try and lose some pounds before I become inactive again.

I, too was diagnosed with grade 1 womb cancer last week. But I've been pushed from pillar to post since June last year Smirk x

  • I was diagnosed about four weeks ago with a cancerous fibroid. I should have had my surgery on Tuesday but because my blood sugar levels were too high it has been postponed until the 13th July so I can low carb to get them down. I have fibromyalgia and non alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver so I'm exhausted and in pain all the time. I've also lost 5lb due to the low carbing (I only need to lose another 3stone!) It is worth trying to lose some weight. Because of other core morbidities I am at high risk for surgery. Hope everything goes well with your meeting with the consultant. Deb

  • Hi and and welcome both to our little spot in the Online Community.

When I was put on the 2 week wait cancer pathway I naively expected to be tested and seeing a consultant prior to op in 14 days. As Covid was just really making it mark all the norm went out of the window. I spoke to my GP on 3rd June, had my hysterectomy on 17th September, Brachytherapy at the end of October. Endometrial cancer is a very slow growing cancer so they don't always apply the urgency we, as the patient, expect.

Here on this forum you'll find a lovely group of supportive ladies who have all been exactly where you are now. A possibility of cancer diagnosis brings all sorts of stress and fears and if anyone can hold your hand and reassure you we will. We're all at the start, in the middle or the end of what can only be described as a roller-coaster ride. The ride no-one wants to get on.

It’s always helpful to others if you write a little something (or a lot) about yourselves and your journeys to date. You can enter it into your profile (click on your username and select “Profile”) It’s helpful to other members with a similar diagnosis who can then hopefully answer your questions. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. You can amend or update it at any time. If you’re not sure what to write, just click on my username.

If you want to ask any of us any questions please come back and do so. There's always someone around and we can offer a shoulder to cry on, a hand to hold or listen to a rant, we’re here for you.

It might also be a good idea to download this booklet Understanding Womb (Endometrial) Cancer I found it invaluable in my journey.

Also take a look at the post What to take in my overnight bag - it might be helpful!

It’s always good to talk and the Macmillan Support Services provides lots of information, support, financial guidance or just a listening ear. It's free to call on 0808 808 00 00  8am to 8pm, 7 days a week. Have a look to see what is available by Clicking here .

There is also an Ask an Expert section, but you should allow two working days for replies from our expert team.

To find information covering diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers can be found on our Online Information and Support Section

Sending you welcoming hugs, B xx

    Thank you!

I shall update my profile Blush I started reading the understanding womb cancer book that my macmillan nurse posted out to me last night, I've got my niece staying tonight so I've popped it away as I don't want to worry her. She's a worry wart as it is.

I'll definitely look at the what to pack thread as I've started to compile a list so that I don't forget anything x

    Hi Jemimapuddleduck87,

I'm sorry to hear that, it's pants I know. It hasn't helped with all this Covid nightmare and trying to get seen by someone, but I hope it starts to move quickly for you and you get sorted soon. How are you feeling about everything?

    Hi Deb,

Sorry to hear your op got postponed, nothing worse, especially when you've geared yourself up for it. Sounds like you're really going through it at the moment. I hope you get through everything ok and manage to stay strong. I know what it's like to have underlying issues and how exhausting dealing with and managing pain every day, and you think, hell is there anything else you want to throw at me lol. But strength and a damn good sense of humour will get us through it. Hope all goes well for the 13th.
