Well yesterday, there I was in a field walking the dog & hubby and the phone rang. It was my Consultant's secretary telling me he'd had a cancellation and could I attend the hospital that afternoon. I was a little early for another 3 month consult but was happy to go as I was a bit worried about the possible lymphoedema. Have I also mentioned he's rather gorgeous!

Anyway, chatted about any side effects after Brachytherapy, none to speak of. He checked my feet, Sod's Law - the one that had been swollen wasn't but he said to keep an eye on it. Elevate whenever possible, don't wear shoes with T bars. He could give me Teds stockings (Compression) and refer me to a clinic if need be.

Then the examination, My CNS (lovely lady) was present as was a student nurse. No problems with the speculum (I dilated before I'd had my shower) , noticed movement over my shoulder and there I was, in all my glory, on a TV screen. Not nice looking up your own vagina - don't recommend it!! LOL

He checked my Brachy scar tissue, palpated my tummy and pronounced all good. Back to see him in September. The team there are so good, totally put you at your ease, don't rush you and are informative.

  • Yay, that’s all good news. I don’t think I’ll get mine done till July sometime. It’s going to be a telephone consultation, they’re obviously happy that I am sorted! I wish I could have the same confidence!! Hmmmm, watching the whole thing on a tv screen, oooeer, no thank you! East Enders has a better storyline so I’m told!

    Take care Barb,

Well done Barb...that's great news and good that you got in early on a cancellation. Typical of the ankle/foot not to swell though. Good in a way but not helpful...like the tooth that stops aching when you get the dental appointment! Being the nosey lamb that I am I love nothing more than seeing inside my body on screen. I find it fascinating although I think the surgeons did a double take when I asked whether I could watch my biopsies being taken and my port implanted. The really good one was my bowel colonoscopy years ago before all this started. Even had the operator explaining all the little bits and pieces. I'm the weird sort who wants doors on strategic places on my body so I can see what's going  awry when I get a pain of don't feel well. Mind you just as well we don't as mine would always be open as I would be doing DIY operations! You take care now. Love and hugs. Lamb.xx

  • That all sounds good, Barb. Interesting that they are just monitoring the leg, like me!!! Some days mine swells more than others, but I can't work out why!!! xxx

  • That’s lovely news. I’m so pleased for you.

  • Oh Lamb, you do make me laugh! I couldn't imagine anything worse than looking at your own Colonoscopy!

    Hope you're still doing ok.

Big hugs your way, Barb xxHugging
