Achy tender breast post- hysterectomy

Hi All, I’ve not posted for a while - I’m still waiting on my results, 6 weeks and 1 day post op!

Hope everyone is well and I’ll update once results are received

the reason that I’m posting now is to ask about breast pain/tenderness etc

for the last week or so, both breasts feel tender but one in particular is causing me concern. There’s no lump or change in appearance, but it’s quite achy, or can be really tender to touch. It hurts when I press on my armpit. The sensations move around and fluctuate in intensity.

im obviously starting the menopause so hoping/assuming it’s this. I have a GP appointment on Monday, but just wondering whether this is common post-op and with no HRT.

as always, thank you.

  • One armpit was a bit tender when I pressed it, but I found that if it stopped pressing it it stopped hurting! My imagination was working overtime like it does for most if not all of us. By all means check with your GP but it’s likely just your body settling down.

  • Hi Lizbot

Sorry to hear that you are still waiting for your results. I have been thinking of you and wondered if you had had anything back yet.

Breast pain/tenderness after hysterectomy where the ovaries have been removed is not unusual. It can be due to the big drop off in oestrogen and can settle with time. It is worth checking with your GP on Monday for peace of mind.
