CT Scan with Contrast

I had a CT with contrast and wasn't given any instructions about stopping eating. I also didn't have to drink anything before hand. The contrast was put in via a canula.

Perhaps its best to give them a call for clarification. There should be a number to call on the appointment letter, if not maybe contact your CNS.

Hi the instructions in my letter were not to eat or drink anything apart from the 500mls of water 2-3 hours before my appointment. I was only asked to arrive 30 mins before my scan which was at 8:15 in the morning. The water had to be drunk at least an hour before the appointment time. Hope that helps but as Jane said may be best to check with your hospital as it seems to vary. 

Everyone is so different. Both mine were no eating for 4 hours before then drink 1 pint of water an hour before. I thought I couldn't then go to toilet but apparently I could have done. All so different. As others say if not sure always ask your own team. Hope it goes well.

My latest one this week is to have at least 4 hours with no food before start of appointment.

Don't forget to take something with you to read, play or distract you for the 1 hour of drinking the contrast drinks.
