Hello

Has anyone had pelvic insufficiency fractures after pelvic radiotherapy?

If so, would you mind sharing your symptoms and/or treatment please?

I'm waiting the results of CT scan arising from second 6 month check up. I have severe groin and back pain for 2 months now - worse when walking.

  • Hi again KT89

I am sorry to hear that you are having pain and are concerned about a pelvic insufficiency fracture.

If there is one it should be able to be seen on the CT that you are waiting for the results from.

This is a search for pelvic insufficiency fractures on the Community- it may be worth having a quick look.

Pelvic insufficiency fractures | Macmillan Cancer Support

I remember being told about these after my last radiotherapy and being told sometimes they can cause no symptoms and are discovered when being checked for something else, and sometimes they can cause a lot of pain in the area. I asked about what would happen if I got one and was told pain relief and possible rest while they healed. I was told they are tiny cracks rather than a break. So a break would have surgery whereas tiny cracks should heal.

Hope this helps and I hope that your results come back quickly.

    Jane
