Hi I had a total abdominal hysterectomy on 31st January followed by 25 sessions of pelvic radiotherapy which finished at the end of May. Had an appointment with the oncologist 3 months after finishing radiotherapy and today had 1st 3 month check up with gynaecology. I was super anxious as I hadn’t been checked internally since my surgery, but very relieved all fine.
Involved a chat on any ongoing symptoms ( still have some bowel issues) followed by internal exam to check all healthy.
posting this so that others know what to expect. I’m sure I’ll be anxious again in 3 months time though!!!
Hi Travellinggirl
i am glad it went ok. I remember being really nervous about my first one.
I hope the bowel issues start to settle soon. Dietary changes made a big difference to me.
I had advice off my CNS/consultant but also found Pelvic Radiation Disease Association helpful. They have dietary advice that may help.
I will pop a link here to some other info, in case anyone else is due a check soon.
