Hello,im sorry if this isnt the right place to come to but I've recently been diagnosed with pre cancerous cells in my uterus following a diagnosis of Endometrial hyperplasia which now means I havendometrial Hyperplasia with Atypia.Ive recently had a Mirena coil fitted and I'm so worried because I still want to try for children.Im 40 and my window of time for this is running out .I've also ard the dreaded word Hysterectomy which is definitely not what I want right now.Im very sad and worried and I wondered if anyone else has had a similar experience and would like to talk about it with me just for some guidance.
Hi there,
I’m sorry to hear you’ve had this news. I had a similar diagnosis 5 years ago which was maintained with a Mirena coil up until this year when I was diagnosed with Grade 1 cancer and scheduled for a hysterectomy (which I had on Tuesday!). But I just wanted to share that for the last 5 years all discussions have involved discussing fertility options and my feelings about that. I was always told that if I was in a position to want to try to get pregnant I would be supported in that through the same clinic. I’m a little younger than you at 34 and have always been somewhat ambivalent towards biological motherhood so it didn’t become something I prioritised in the last 5 years but was always something my care team wanted to check in about, right up to the last meeting on Tuesday morning.
Sending you lots of support and well wishes in this journey. Xxx
Hi Luna83
I am sorry to hear of your diagnosis. It must have been worrying to hear that you have some precancer cells.
Endometrial Hyperplasia: Causes, Symptoms and Treatment
The above link has some info about hyperplasia that may be of help.
I understand your concerns about fertility. There are some ladies on here who have used the mirena coil for different reasons. Hopefully someone with a similar experience will be along soon.
Perhaps give the Support Line a call and talk things through with one of the nurses.

Hello There ,
Thank you so much for your reply.Im so sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis and consequent hysterectomy. It does help knowing that the mirena could can help but its definitely not a cure.I know hat this could also happen to me.I do have one child so I'm happy and as sad as it would be I guess If it came to it I would need to do the same.I gone the op went well and the cancer has been rremoved ️
Hello LondonGirl8
Thank you for your reply.I hope your Hysterectomy went well It truly is a worrying time when you're first diagnosed with this condition. I'm unsure of what step to take next.Even though I have Atypical cells now I still don't really want a hysterectomy just yet as I really do want another child.
Hopefully things will be clearer for me after some further tests .Hope your recovery goes well.Wishing you all the best
