Hi ladies
I finished my radiotherapy treatment at the end of June this year. I have recently had a follow up appointment from the radiotherapy department to check that side effects were alright, that was this month. This was a telephone appointment that lasted about 10 minutes! Since then I have been told that my next check up will be in January, back with my surgical team. I thought that I would have a thorough check up 3 months after my treatment had finished, not 7 months after my treatment had finished! I live in Newcastle, I’m not sure if the follow ups depend on the area where you live, but I am interested to hear your experience of check ups after surgery and treatment has finished.
Thanks in advance.
Ange
Hi I finished mine at end of May and had check up with oncology end of August ( included a chat with CNS). My 1st gynae check up is end of November- approx 6 months after treatment finished - so not that different to yours.
Hi Ange
This is my experience.
There can be a variation between hospitals and also stages and grades and treatments. However, if your hospital is like mine, I can contact my CNS at any point and if I have concerns she will get me in to be checked earlier. If it is worrying you perhaps contact your CNS.
I was seen a month after radiotherapy was completed by the consultant. This included a physical examination- however the appointment probably only took around 20 minutes. There was talking about the chemo effects, radio effects and an internal to check healing. This was 6 months after surgery. I was then discharged to the nurse led clinics where I have been seen every 3 months for 2 years.

Thanks for your reply Jane. I was thinking I should have had a check up 3 months after the treatment was finished. I don’t have any major concerns, just feel bloated at times and my bowels aren’t quite right I feel, but they may not get back to the way they were.
Thanks Travelling girl, I thought I would have had a thorough check up 3 months after treatment had finished, but I’ll just wait for my scheduled appointment, unless I have any concerns.

Yes feels weird that there’s no check up yet doesn’t it? I know I’ll feel better after the 1st one!
Yes same here. It just feels a long time to me!
Let me know how you get on when you have it and what it entails.
Thanks
Ange
