My oncologist had said my surgery would be at the end of this month but every time I call she says it wil be another couple of weeks until they can give me a date. I have to stop working this week because of the pain and I'm a single homeowner so that's not good.
Just read my MRI results that came in yesterday .
T2 intermediate signal is seen in the uterine fundus to the cervix measuring 2.7 x 7.7 x 3.1 cm (2:11, 4:17). Associated diffusion restriction is seen throughout. Associated hypoenhancement seen in this region. Small volume of fluid is seen within the endometrium (4:37). There is associated greater than 50% involvement of the myometrium without extension beyond the serosa. There may be involvement of the superior aspect of the vagina (2:13). No convincing parametrial invasion. Bilateral ovaries are not clearly visualized on this exam.
Mass centered within the endometrium spanning over 7.7 cm in length with involvement of the cervix and possibly the superior aspect of the vagina and consider direct visualization (at least FIGO 2, possible FIGO stage 3b). No lymphadenopathy.
Hello NitThu27
I am so sorry to hear that you are still waiting.
I can understand your concerns and that you just want to get the surgery done. It must also be a worry to have to take time off work.
It might be an idea to give the Support Line a call and speak to one of the financial advisors to see if you are entitled to any financial support. I did this myself as I was unable to be at work and only had SSP from my employer. They were able to tell me what I was entitled to and how to go about claiming it. It made a huge difference to me.
With regard to the surgery date, it is good that you are able to be in contact with your Oncologist but it's not great that they can not give you more of a definite idea when it will happen. I wonder if having the MRI results back may help it move forward? When I was in a similar position, having had the diagnosis and waiting to hear what would happen next/ when surgery was planned- I actually contacted my GP and explained by then I was having pain, I did not know what was happening and I was starting to really worry. My GP was able to contact the hospital directly and I had a message back 2 hours later with an appointment the following day. I contacted the GP on the Thursday. Appointment was on the Friday lunchtime and pre op was Friday pm, surgery was on the following Monday. I don't know whether it would make any difference in your case but I wonder if it would be worth a try. I did it via an online consultation. My next step would have been to ask if there was a cancellation list I could go on if something happened short notice - such as someone being ill with covid on the day etc.
With the details on MRI I understand it is concerning when you have results that need explaining. I would think it would be perfectly fine to ask for somebody to explain what they mean. If you do decide to contact your GP then maybe you could ask them to explain them a bit. However I would think that now the results have come back the oncologist should talk these through with you. Have you a CNS that you could ask? I was given a phone number for the nurse team that I could call and they would phone back.
I hope this helps a bit. I hope that now the MRI results have come back that this might speed things along a bit for you. I found that the point where I got the scan results back was when things started to move quickly- but it was when my GP contacted the hospital directly to ask what was happening, that things started to happen.
Jane
Hi NitThu27, sorry to hear you're having such a difficult time. Perhaps now that the MRI results are back this may get things moving forward. Once my MRI and CT results were back this prompted an appointment with the surgeon who then booked me in for the hysterectomy. Jane's suggestion that you contact your GP seems a good idea, worth a try maybe? Also it may be worth contacting your CNS and explaining about your personal situation and that you are having issues with the level of pain. You can always leave a short message if they are not available to take your call and mine usually responded fairly quickly. Hope you get some more definite news soon. x
