I saw my GP today and she did a pelvic exam, but could only get the speculum a short way inside, I found it too painful to proceed further so instead she prescribed me some oestrogen pessaries, which I’m very reluctant to use tbh , I said I didn’t want HRT again, she said all she could feel were hormonal changes in the vagina, no discernible lumps and nothing obviously wrong around the neck of the womb , she did this without the speculum just with her fingers ( sorry tmi !!), and said I should use the pessaries for a month or two then book in for the smear test, I really don’t want to use the pessaries but if it’s going to make the smear test easier then I suppose I have no choice?
