Hello Ladies,
I do not post on here very often now but try to read posts as often as I can. I am from the 2015 groups of womb/fallopian tube cancer.
Recently I feared there was a recurrence as I have had bowel problem and a lot of pain across my stomach which felt as if food that was being digested had to pass through shards of glass. So i did go to my GP who instigated an ultrasound scan, which basically showed there were no problems, but fortunately my GP sent me to a Consultant for the bowel. He then organised a CT scan, & suggested a Colonoscopy.
I had the colonoscopy procedure yesterday,& the Dr found 4 polyps one of which was 2cm in size. He removed all these & clamped them so that they would not bleed. This procedure took over an hour as it was quite tricky as there was scar tissue in the way from the hysterectomy & also a hernia from the hysterectomy. This procedure was very painful even though they put a canula in with appropriate medication. I asked if i could see everything on the screen which they did let me watch.
As I thought it was a recurrence, which it is not & obviously that was a huge relief,so this is the reason for my post. The Doctor told me while I was there that these polyps were all benign & I was given a report afterwards.
I hope that you are all keeping as well as possible at the moment and managing to steer clear of the Corona virus. Thinking of you all. Georgette xx
Hi Georgette I recently have had a Colonoscopy and I too thought it was possibly a 2nd recurrence for me, fortunately the diagnosis is radiation Proctitis side effect from Salvage brachy, the practitioner told me having read my notes that I had a higher radiation dose than for adjuvant. I too was experiencing stomach and rectal pains, bleeding and mucas discharge. So glad you are ok. Xx
Hello Georgette, glad to hear they were benign but no wonder you were in pain. Its surprising that although scans can be fantastic they don't always see everything as this shows. Glad you were persistent ad got answers to a lot of unknowns there.
As for the corona virus, well what can anyone say so many unknowns there lots of fear being spread about having support groups, classes cancelled until further notice and not knowing when things will get to normal. Here's sending some special thoughts to the medical proffesionals who are trying to get on top of this.

I had a colonoscopy last year for fecal and gas issues I was having! They found and removed polyps, one of which was pre-cancerous. The procedure was fine, no pain at all just about, and 0 pain relief.
However afterwards, I ended up with a really rare complication that's left my abdomen asymmetrical.
Because of the dodgy polyps, I get to do it all again in July ish. Lucky me!

Thank you, GBear,
I agree about the Corona Virus things are quite difficult at the moment. People grumble about the NHS but the treatment I have had I cannot fault & they will all need a lot of energy to get through this period particularly if it should get worse. Hopefully though things will improve shortly.
Take care.

Thanks Georgette, still awaiting biopsy results which I was told were to confirm diagnosis although he was pretty confident in his diagnosis as he has seen radiation Proctitis numerous times particularly with men having had brachy for prostate cancer. I have a telephone appointment booked with my doctor so hopefully will be given the medication to control it. Take Care xxxx
Hi Lass,
That doesn't sound to good regarding your abdomen,I hope that this does not cause any issues for you. Pleased to hear that you suffered no pain. I think the extreme pain I had was because of where the polyps were located. I do have a high pain barrier but can honestly say I have never suffered pain to this degree.
Like you I have to go in three months time for a checkup to make sure all is ok, so I will not be looking forward to that.
Take care and try to steer clear of this corona virus.xx
