saw GP on 30th March, scan on Friday 5th April, GP phoned me as I drove home from scan to say hysteroscopy will be 15th April as she and sonographer suspect endometrial cancer. Think it’s the speed of everything that is scary and I’ve NEVER known a GP phone me! I appreciate how quickly it’s moving but I think in space of 24 hours I wrote a will, bargained with the universe, told my partner to meet someone else and stared at the blossom on the tree way too long that neighbour (whose tree it is) was on verge of calling police as I probably looked like a peeping Tom. Am I the only one to react this way?

  • Hi Laney,

I think your reactions are perfectly normal.

I actually asked the consultant if it was worth having the operation! She and husband bit my head off !!! I'm so glad I did now!!

    All the best xxxxx

  • Hi Laney10,

Welcome, though I'm sorry you have had to find your way here. Your reactions are perfectly normal in the circumstances. It's a scary time and waiting for tests and results isn't easy. That sudden impetus you've found to get things done will  help to keep your mind occupied. Hopefully you won't need that will you've made for a very long time. I know it's hard and you're bound to be worried but try not to let it rob you of the joy of the little things in each day - so smell the blossoms, savour the coffee, the sound of laughter and so on. Keep doing the things you enjoy while you wait because it can help. Lease let us know how you get on x

Thank you for your lovely message. Went to GP about a persistent water infection and a week later hear the cancer word - wasn’t expecting that. Good to know some of my irrational behaviour is typical; it certainly pulls you up in life. This website has been great as of course I’ve googled everything so good to read stuff here that’s valid. I will update with results and in meantime will brew more coffee; enjoy the sunrise and stare at the neighbours blossom on his tree x
