Hi,
I was referred for an ultrasound after seeing my gp for heavy prolonged periods and bleeding between periods. Following that it’s been fast track to see the gynaecologist, fast track for a hysteroscopy and biopsy and fast track again for another hysteroscopy under general anaesthetic on Tuesday to remove polyps and further biopsy.
After the first hysteroscopy I got a letter saying the biopsy was clear and that there was no sign of endometrial hyperplasia but the discharge summary after my op on Tuesday says I have an 8 week sized uterus and hyperplastic thick endometrium.
I’m waiting for the histology from Tuesday but am so confused and scared as I don’t really understand what’s going on now
Any advice gratefully recieved
Hello ,
Welcome to the community, I am sorry to learn of your worries which must now seem so confusing and scary but you have one positive result in that your first biopsy was clear. Because they need to remove a polyp and have seen that your uterus lining is thickened with a enlarged uterus they are going to do another biopsy under GA to make sure that they haven't missed anything and I am very glad to hear that they are checking you out properly. I am know the waiting on results is very scary but I wanted to say this lots of ladies just pass though here because it turns out not to be cancer, but if it is the ladies here are so very supportive and knowledgeable and we have all been where you find yourself now and totally understand. I was a nervous wreak if I am honest, I was diagnosed at 37 I had a total hysterectomy in June 2017 and it was then I found this community and the support I received got me though some very though times because I knew they understood. We are all here for you, to listen and advice where we can and there is lots of virtual hugs to go around. I am sure some of the lovely ladies will be around soon to offer comfort to you.
But I for now just want to say its perfectly normal how you feel and I hope your second biopsy will also be clear so I sent my best wishes and good luck for Tuesday and a gentle hug.

Hi Tinkerbell (I love your name!). Yea, it is a worrying time. But as GBear says many ladies pass through here and are found not to have cancer. And all the indications are that your problem is hyperplasia and not cancer. But your team are doing all the right things about checking things thoroughly. These medics like timber all the information together and then they have a meeting tomdiscuss it before they finalise your treatment plan. So I should think you will get a fuller explanation when you get your latest histology results. In any case, we always favour writing down a list of questions to take with you to your next appointment. And if possible take a friend or relative with you to give you confidence about asking for answers to your questions until you are satisfied. Xxx
Good luck , with your hysteroscopy under GA today.
