Just wanted to say thank you to all of you who offered kind words and advice to me a couple of weeks ago.

I had my hysterectomy on Thursday last week and was discharged from the hospital on Saturday. I’m now recovering at home with the help of family. Just waiting for results now to see if I need any further treatment so got my fingers crossed that they will say I’m cancer free. I chose to keep my ovaries due to my age (30) so will have to have regular scans on those for the next few years but trying to stay positive that I can soon move forward and get on with life again. Things like this really make you want to live life to the fullest and hold those you love even closer.

For anyone about to have surgery (keyhole) the best thing I took into hospital was my windeze and peppermint tea which I drank 3/4 times a day. The gas pain was there from the minute I woke up but lots of peppermint tea and windeze capsules really did ease it quite quickly. Also comfy baggy clothing is essential, I don’t think I realised just how swollen my tummy would be as I’m normally a size 6/8 in clothing but nothing fits me at the moment. I’m having to wear my partners shorts and jogging pants and he’s a men’s medium/large. I only bought one pair of bigger jogging bottoms and they went in the wash after I left the hospital so could have done with a few more.

Thank you all again and wish you all the best on your journeys xxx

  • Hello Daf88

Good to hear you’re home and recovering from your op. Rest up, pace yourself and resist the urge to overdo things. Comfy clothes and big girl undies are definitely the order of the day! Take care and here’s hoping your post op histology will bring good news x

  • Hi daff,

I'm glad that you are through your op and back in the comfort of your own home, keep taking it easy, it's so tempting to feel back to normal and try and overdo things.

    Lots of love

    xxx
