Hi. I had a constant period for 8 weeks & blood tests showed I'm not menopausal altho 50. Last week I had a pelvic ultrasound, biopsies and hysteroscopy (no polyps or fibroids found), she said she thought there may be precancerous cells and I'm awaiting result. I was given Norethisterone 5ml to stop the bleeding which it did but after 5 days of a constant headache and wheeziness (I'm asthmatic) I stopped them. Now bleeding again but it's heavier, with lots more clots, and I've got bad period pain whereas I haven't had period pains since giving birth to my eldest nearly 20 years ago!
Did anyone else find this? Have I done any damage by sopping them after a few days? I'm going to try and see a doctor tomorrow but our surgery is terrible for giving apptsÂ
I'm also concerned I was given them really because it says if you have any unexplained vaginal bleeding then do not take them.!?Â
My main concern is what's causing the bleeding, not whether we can stop it with tablets, I feel like that's addressing the symptoms rather than cause. But then if a progesterone tablet like Norethisterone can stop the bleeding surely that in itself suggests it IS down to hormonal activity?
I'm feeling very scared and alone. I lost both parents to cancer and there's loads of it in our family.
I was 5 months from onset of bleeding until I had my hysterectomy. First biopsy said complex endometrial hyperplasia at this appointment they could not get coil in so was then sent for hysteroscopy for coil placement. He took biopsies again, did a D&C and put coil in. My biopsies came back as cells being in a changeable state. He did say they weren't quite sure what they were looking at. Cancer was not confirmed until after pathology. I had a 6cm tumour in one area of the lining the other bits were going back to normal. My consultants view was he wasn't sure enough to say hormone treatment was all I needed. My womb was greatly vascularised which made the bleeding worse. Hence he opted for hysterectomy. I'm so glad I had it done. Yes I complain about being miserable, that being put into surgical menopause, but I do know I'm incredibly lucky. My consultant did wait for me to say take it away. I'm 44 n have my family. I think if I'd had laser surgery n my womb was being a bitch again, I'd kick her to the kerb. In fact that's what I did!
That's exactly what I was thinking, that it would be better to have it surgically removed than trust to luck that it's just settled down.Â
I've been taking the Tranexamic acid and have the most awful headache, migraine like. Â I'll see how I am tomorrow but if it's still awful I don't want to keep taking them. Can't I just carry on bleeding till the result of the biopsy which should be sometime next week?Â
Suppose you can if you can handle it. Your bloods were good. I was flooding several times a day. Through a tampon, three pads n it still managed to get to my shoes so I had to do something. Its a shame the tranexamic giving you a headache. It was a wonder drug for me. Hope the head feels better tomorrow.
Thanks Lisa. Migraine stopped 24 hours after stopping taking the Tranexamic.
Haven had any bleeding since then which is weird, it came back lightly after stopping the Norethisterone but nothing at all since stopping taking the Tranexamic.Â
So I don't know whether the Tranexamic stopped it or whether it would have stopped by itself anyway? Â So I'm taking nothing nowÂ
3 weeks Monday since biopsy so hoping to hear something soonÂ
cramps after period has ended? This is the most common reason behind bleeding as well. It may be occurring because of this instead of any causes of diseases or something like that.
Hey
