I thought that it would good for us to have a regular place to share the positive things, however small, in our lives. Whenever you all share positive tales, I know that I for one feel better, so I thought it might benefit others too. So, if you need a little reminder that joy can be found even on the darkest days, this is the place.
The rule is simply to list three good things that you have experienced, or will experience, today. The idea is to focus on the present rather than worrying about the future or dwelling on negative thoughts. If you are struggling through something hard remembering what you have that is good can really support you. Everyone is different, and there is no wrong answer, and nothing too insignificant to mention. Everything positive counts!
Truly, reading these things makes me so happy :-)
I am sat on a sofa with my feet up and headphones on listening to some Beethoven string quartets while my husband watches the FA cup final.
I spent a lovely few hours with my friend in Hyde park, having a picnic, chatting, strolling and cuddling her baby.
I sent a parcel to my friend's little girl, and my friend sent WhatsApp pictures as the parcel was opened. I had drawn all over the outside with cats and rabbits and ballet dancers and stars and apparently she was fascinated by them! I spent a lot of winter hours crocheting a brightly coloured blanket for my friend's daughter and she already loves it. It seems that she is so glad to have her own special blanket.
So much joy. I'm cream crackered now though!
1 - The itchy rashes on my legs have finally disappeared, yeah!
2 - I had a lovely ride on my horse this morning, just me and him in the sunshine, it felt good to be alive.
3 - I keep thinking back to last year at this time (I was in pain, and in between diagnosis and my operation) and I can't help feeling grateful that I feel so much better than I did then, and that I am well enough to do the things I enjoy again.
Three good things from the last few days
* Â at the weekend I went with my husband, brother-in-law and his wife to visit a garden attraction. Beautiful flowers, sculptures and walks. So much to see in a gorgeous, peaceful setting. Well worth the visit!
* my beautiful daughters, together with their partners, have been home for the last 2 days. We've had fun, laughed a lot and planed our next get together!Â
* Â today it's warm and sunny, the birds are singing, the washing is drying on the line and we're having risotto for tea.
HiÂ
I'm just back from a walk and swim on the Medway. An astonishingly lovely spot where a wild meadow runs along the side of the river. I lost count of the flowers but was thrilled to identify grass vetchling, a dear little bright pink flower that looks like a miniature, wild sweet pea. We heard sky larks and thrushes and robins and chiff chaffs and i don't know what else.Â
I am so grateful for today - it was much better than the diary suggested it would be. Here are three highlights:
I met up with my mum - a meeting had been cancelled so she had time to spare - and we ate lunch in a park before going fabric shopping together. Much was bought including a cotton Liberty print of brightly coloured birds - so joyful!
I have booked a week away in the Scottish Highlands in August - my friends are getting married and we're making a proper trip of it.
Some excellent giggles in this group :-)
One mega good thing:
I completed the Wirral Coastal Walk. 15 miles ain't bad for someone who could only walk a mile and a half last May. I did it with my two sisters ( 2 more good things really) and we did it for St John's Hospice who were absolutely fantastic with my mum and dad. The sun shone all day and there was a fabulous atmosphere. Now I have blisters, feet up and a glass of cold wine. Bliss. Xx
Very well done on your coastal walk. 15 miles is quite a thought.Â
Highlights from the last few days for me
My son is home from New Zealand for 8 weeks. It's a joy to have his company around the house. He is such a helpful and capable young man these days.Â
The garden is looking it's very best ever. All the beautiful roses we have planted over the years are looking spectacular in the sunshine. Thank you David Austin and Peter Beales.Â
Roll on my daughters wedding in 4 weeks, 4 days, 9 hours....... am I being obsessive! Probably yes but I'm just so relieved to be here and seeing this occasion.Â
Nice! You have both brought a smile to my face with your good things. Thank you.Â
After a lovely Sunday with my family, my three good things:Â
A lovely walk and swim on the Medway. Just beautiful.Â
A bowl of Green and Black chocolate butterscotch ice cream. Mmmmmm.Â
I played my husband at yamb (an obscure dice game. Like Yahtzee but much more complicated) and won
sounds fab....best things in life involve good food, surroundings and company....very interested in firstly the green and black ice cream and this game yamb as i love yahtzee.....:0)
