Hi everyone, as per my last post I met with an oncologist this Tuesday 2nd May to review the pathology report in detail for my Stage 1A, grade 3 endometrioid cancer and discuss the previous MDT decision to discharge me and follow up in six months. He apologised for the 9 weeks it's taken for me to get information post-op and thanked me for asking for the consultation. Long story short he's recommended 3 sessions of brachytherapy adjuvant treatment to the vaginal vault to try to prevent recurrence. He said this is what he would have recommended for me had he been on that MDT meeting and not on leave! All rather scary to be honest that I could have been left without this treatment had I not queried it with a different CNS. I've consented and my sessions are already booked for 22nd, 26th and 30th May. So by the end of this month I'm hoping that will be the end for me treatment-wise apart from recovery of course from brachytherapy side effects and the whole emotional impact this second cancer diagnosis has had on me! I'm now going to enjoy the long weekend and then I'll be following the radiotherapy thread and becoming an expert in all things dilators, lubricants and trying not to get too scared. Thank you all for your support and advice it makes such a difference xx
