Hello All, I know that have been some other posts about this with messages by Barb and others but I can’t seem to find them! I had my first chemo last Tuesday 8 Feb
(carboplatin and placlitaxel) and for the last few days I have had lots of bloating, abdominal and chest wind. I have taken an anti sickness tablet before tea which has helped with nausea but it hasn’t stopped the wind. I wasn’t a brilliant sleeper before but I am only getting about 5 hours over the course of a day. Any advice or support would be appreciated.
Thank you XX
Hi Lindy67 You are one inspiring lady-you have through so many treatments and yet you still are kind enough to reply to my post. It is good news that things are stable for you-good luck with forthcoming trials. XX

Thank you for your kind words. At the end of the day we just have to make the best of everything. I'm fortunate to be retired and can lead a quiet life if I have to. Hope all goes well with your future treatment x
Thankfully my ‘windy’ experiences have really reduced and I went from having no sleep to having a couple of naps yesterday and sleeping quite well last night. I suppose that it is just the nature of chemo that each day can be different. Take care all of you special ladies.
Just in case anyone looks at this old post for advice- my oncology nurse has told me that the wind/bloating I have been having on and off since my operation are due to acid reflux. This was just down to the trauma of the op and there was nothing I could have done to stop it. Having chemotherapy triggered it again as it can be one of the side effects. I have been prescribed omeprazole which has more or less stopped the wind/bloating so that has brought me great relief. I also now know that insomnia in the few days after chemo is common due to the steroids they give you. Having various side effects can be worrying but I would now always contact my CSN or oncology nurse at an early stage rather than waiting and worrying. XXX
Hi Walkinglady. I've been on Lansoprazole (which is similar to omeprazole) for some months now for acid reflux. My CT scan back in November showed diverticulitis. I had to change my diet of wholegrain rice, wholemeal bread, pulses etc. to something more bland - white bread etc. I didn't have bloating but tummy pains as my gut was basically a fermentation unit.
It was my CNS told me about it too - always to best to chat to them!
Hugs, Barb xx
