Hi

A huge thank you for the thoughts, well wishes and words of support and encouragement for my surgery, I really appreciate it xxxx

I had a successful open surgery they completed the total hysterectomy and sent everything to the lab along with the fluid from the washout plus the amentum biopsies. I should have the results in arount 3 weeks. I spent 2.5 days in hospital and I was discharged to continue my recovery at home.

The pain isn't as bad as I thought it would be and I am managing to mobilise around my home but I haven't walked outside as yet. I am doing as I am told and not bending or twisting or lifting and am having my naps in the afternoon.

I am having trouble in the night trying to sleep because I've always slept on my side as I have arthritis in my lower spine but since my surgery I can't lie on my side as I get a searing burning type pain and I have to move back onto my back.. Other than that I'm not having any major issues so  am taking one day at a time.

  • Hi . To be honest I can't remember - I do remember hubby was moaning about the mass of pillows so I probably left them on longer to annoy him - once you get to know me you'll realise my 41 year marriage is no bed of roses!

Back to your question probably a month at least. I definitely didn't have any more pain in one side than the other. I do recall by the time I went for my Brachytherapy at week 6 I was back to sleeping on either side. (I remember that because hubby had stopped moaning about my snoring/gurgling!)

To put your mind at rest, give your CNS a call tomorrow.

    Sending hugs, Barb xx

    Hi MrsBJH

Nobody seems overly concerned that I have more pain on one side, there doesn't seem to be any sign of infection so that is good. If I still have this pain imbalance when I go for my 6 week post op check I have to mention it then.
