Hello,
I thought I would join the support group for me and my mum. She doesn't want to read anything about her condition or join because she has told me she doesn't want to know and I can research for her. I think I feel more upset than her!
She has been diagnosed with stage 2 endometrial cancer. She was told by the consultant today following from a biopsy two weeks ago. They also had a spare MRI slot today so she also had this. She has told me they will do blood tests next week. We are guessing an operation will be within one month?
She is 67 years old, obese but loosing weight constantly as she has been on a great diet for a year, high cholesterol.
I know google should probably be banned but I am looking at survival rates and it makes me very upset. I just want to know really if this condition will shorten her life expectancie significantly, or is this a well managed disease etc....
Thanks so much Faye x
I am so sorry to hear that and do hope that you are all coping. I am absolutely fine. Mine had already spread to a lymph node - they removed 13 with the hysterectomy. Remember that whatever statistics they give your mum, those are an average and she can be one of the best cases. It's worth asking about other treatments too. I met someone who was having Avastin (bevacizumab) and at her next scan her tumours had all halved in size. Stay strong, and sending love and prayers xx
Sorry to be a bit of a misery, but there are cases where it comes back after just surgery (as Lucki2021's mum). Someone that I met during treatment only had surgery and it later came back and spread. Our oncologist said that if the original consultant (not a specialist cancer hospital) had given her just 1 treatment of chemo she would not have needed him. Please ask if it is possible to have 1 cycle of chemo - it's unpleasant but worth it. xx
Thank you Endo
im so pleased you are ok. Such good news and long may it continue
my mums has spread to her pelvic lymph nodes and para ortic lymph nodes. Doctors are suggesting it isn’t possible to remove the nodes...but are treating it with chemo. She’s had 3 sessions of chemo... three more to go.... we are desperately hoping chemo kills all the nasty cells but I’m not sure if we asking for the impossible and all they can do is shrink it ...
google has scared the life out of me and given me many many sleepless nights
mum is also on an immunotherapy trial as well so the doctors are literally throwing everything at it ️

Hi . That's such good news, I'm so pleased for you and your Mum. Nearly everyone I reply to on this, and other forums, are in total shock when diagnosed. It's such a relied when we come out the other side.
All the best to you and your Mum.

It's great that she is on an immunotherapy trial too. The more that they throw at it the better! Google can be depressing but sometimes offers more hope. I would recommend that you limit any searches to more recent research as the statistics are better than historical data. It shows that they are learning all the time, which is great for those of us affected. Please stay in touch and let us all know about your mum's progress. Chemo can be hard depending on the side effects, so it's great that you are there for her. Love xxx
Thank you Endo.
will definitely stay in touch. Mum gets her first scan results on Wednesday so we are quite anxious but staying positive! ️ x
Hello Endo and everyone who reads this
hope you well
mum received her scan results a few day’s ago and it’s positive news The nodes seem to be shrinking a fair bit.
We are so grateful to god and I can just hear the relief in mums voice now. She’s got two more chemo sessions to go and will then hopefully stay on the trial drug
i think it’s a two year trial only so I am at bit of a loss as to what they might do after the trial period
sending you all lots of love and good wishes ️
