Hi to all,
I would love to hear from anyone who has used Imiquimod cream for the treatment of VIN 3. My specialist has advised me however that this is a very painful treatment and could last for up to 16 weeks. Not convinced that I want to be tortured for that amount of time. The alternative is a Vulvectomy - Wide local cold knife excision surgery plus a skin graft.. I would have to have a spinal anaesthetic due to my age and health. Any comments would be wonderful as I am at a loss and drained, trying to make a decision.
Hiya, you are most welcome anytime for a chat. I know how difficult it can be having been there myself. I'm glad I did the cream despite it being what seemed likes months and months!!! Hopefully they see you and get it sorted whichever you decide. My Gynaecologist said 4 weeks for surgery and he kept to his word unless it changes before hand!! I have read up that some certain medications can cause it but myself not taking anything I've not looked into it further. Thank you for your well wishes I will pop back on let you know how it goes. I wish you all the best in which decision you go with xx
Hello , I had the im Iquitos and can say it was extremely painful . I had to use it for 6 months
when I say my consultant she was horrified and said that the cream is only licences to be used for no more than 6 weeks at a time
the area felt like burning and we took progress photos which helped the consultant. Glad we did as for me I needed surgery . If I had to use it again then I would make sure I was signed off work for the duration.
For me ( in my 50s) I wish they had done my surgery sooner .
I am just about to have my second surgery and won’t know if I have grafts until I awake
Hi, Thank you for your input re Vin. I have decided to have the operation as I am not confident to use the imiquimod cream. I believe I will have to have skin flaps, which hopefully will be done at the same time. I have an appointment on 2 May to see my Consultant and hopefully get the date for the operation. I do hope your second surgery goes well and wish you all the best for the future.
Hiya, yes I had my surgery just over 2 weeks ago. I ended up having local anaesthetic which pleased me, all is healing well and I'm now back at work. It was no where near what I expected, and ended up with 12 stitches so wasn't as many as the consultant thought. I'm awaiting the results from the excisions, hopefully they have clear margins. I'm going back for a check up in 2 weeks. Thank you for thinking of me.
That's not long away, you will be absolutely fine, your in safe hands, keep me updated how you get on xx
Hello , I’m doing well thankyou . It’s week 3 and everything is just starting to heal .
im still waiting for results - luckily no skin grafts but the did take 1 side of the inner labia away l.
Pshycoligically that’s bad enough never mind the weight for my results .
I know I’d rather have things removed if it saves my life but it’s still hard .
Any news on your surgery?
Hiya, I go back next Thursday for a follow up, my results are back but the receptionist said my consultant needs to do a full report so he may tell me next week if I don't them in the post before. I'm glad things are healing for you, yes it's the longest wait to get results ever !! I will have anything removed if it saves my life. Hope you hear something soon.
