Hello all,

I had an area removed 3 weeks ago and closed using stitches. I believe my consultant said the stitches would take 3-4 weeks to dissolve. They are still there and the area is still quite sore (especially when peeing). No signs of infection though. Is this normal? Not really sure what to expect. He said there should be no pain after a week but given the area that seems unlikely?

TIA x

  • Hi

I'm sorry to read that you're still quite sore 3 weeks after having an operation. I don't know if this is normal for the type of operation you've had but it might be an idea to contact your CNS to get her advice. As it's the weekend I realise that she might not be available until Monday now so you could always contact NHS 111 for advice.

When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

    Hi cat lady,

I had stitches not all of the dissolved so I had to take them out myself because they were getting very sore. I used some Epaderm cream to soften them up. Maybe you should ask to see the practice nurse at the GP surgery. Xx
