Hi everyone , I was diagnosed 7 days ago and so am going through all the emotions right now.
i am awaiting a call from the breast nurse today and hopefully will get to discuss treatment plans soon too.
not quite the Xmas present I was expecting but feeling positive.
joined here last week but only just found the TNBC group.
not really sure what to expect yet ! Any advice would b great … so far they have said surgery chemo and radiation but no order to it yet x
thanks for reading , stay and say hi if you can, I’d love to hear people’s journeys and tips on how to cope xx
Hi there!
Sorry to hear of your recent diagnosis but glad you've sought support - feeling like I'm not alone has been the main thing keeping me afloat.
I was diagnosed with grade 3 TNBC last month and have just had surgery with chemo and radiotherapy to follow. Full details are in my bio if you fancy a little bedtime reading!
It is very much a shock to the system to suddenly now have this major thing to deal with in your life and the emotions you go through can be varied. I swung wildly between feeling quite defiant and positive to then just feeling completely hopeless and deflated. I'm glad to say that this has settled somewhat now, even though I do still have my moments, and it does help massively to have that support from your medical team, your loved ones and people going through the same.
Hopefully you get some more info from your nurse today - please do keep us updated!
All the best x
Thanks for your reply , read your bio , wow u have def been through it ! But sounds like ur kicking the arse out of it.
i saw the surgeon today and am going to be operated on on Tuesday , so can’t grumble, 2 weeks after diagnosis and I’m under the knife! Chemo and radiotherapy plan still to be made but glad the journey has begun.
I too am grade 3, measuring 14mm , MRI showed it is just in one area.
the professionals are all really great but I am struggling today to feel reassured , so much info to take on board today , told about surgery then pre op assessment then 2 appts on Monday to put Magseed and the coloured liquid through for the op …. It’s a lot to take in …. Although I am intrigued about the green wee and blue tears lol
I hope ur recovery is going well so far , b great to hear how ur doing.
have a great Christmas despite all that is going on in life right now xx
It is definitely a lot of info to take on board in such a short space of time, but it's great news that your surgery has been scheduled so quickly (I thought my turnaround was quick at 4 weeks!).
I didn't have the magseed procedure as I have teeny boobs and my lump was located on the upper outer quadrant so it was very easily palpable. It sounds like your team are being thorough and it's good you're happy with them as that's so important.
Take everything one step at a time, control what you can and let go of what you what you can't. I've found this is really the only way to approach this. It's fast become the way I actually approach life in general now although I'm well known for doing the complete opposite of this!
Hope you and your loved ones have a wonderful day today and best of luck for all your appointments. x
I’m following as I’m in the same stages
had op 4 weeks go and chemo starts on 8 January
it’s all daunting but we have to be strong. Try and stay off
Google as you can easily spiral down with negative thoughts
x take care x and good luck with your treatments
Hi
I’m 63 diagnosed with BRCA2 sep 2023
was recommended to have ovaries/tubes out as I’m passed menopause, and discouraged to have DMX due to age. Lots of BC in family
I had 2nd MRI in October and a lump was found, had biopsy etc
results on 4th Nov and it’s TNBC with slight hormonal levels 3/8 so I need treatment to stop any spread
had lumpectomy on in 1st Dec all lymph nodes and margins were clear
healing really well and not too painful
start 6 months of chemotherapy on 8 January
I’m really dreading it but I know it’s the medicine that’s going to help stop any cancer returning
im in Newcastle/Gateshead and I’ve had amazing care from everyone
x we can do this x x
I go in tomoz for pre op bits , I feel a lot of info has been thrown at me and I just have to roll with it ! Good luck with ur first chemo always here if u wanna chat esp as we r so close in our journey.
I’ve def been steering clear of Google
I’m really lucky as my daughter in law is a surgeon and 2 years away from qualifying as a consultant in breast surgery
so I just put all the info away and talked it through with her x where do you live?
