Morning all,
I'm 48 single mum with x3 daughters
Since my diagnosis on Wednesday I have been struggling to sleep. My mind is all over the place.
My story began on the 25th September when I noticed a large linear indentation on my right breast. I saw the GP on the 27th who made the usual referrals.
I visited the "one stop breast clinic" ten days later. The consultant didn't feel any lumps but sent me for a mammogram to be sure. After which I saw the radiographer. This was when my world feel apart. He said he could see what looked like a benign cyst and a small mass in my right boob. On checking my armpit he saw 2 swollen lymph nodes. He was frank and told me it looked suspicious. I underwent 7 biopsies there and then.
That was on the Saturday, on the following Monday I had letters booking me in for a CT scan, bone scan and blood tests. I can not describe the sheer panic that set in!
On Wednesday 20th I was diagnosed with grade 2 TNBC with cancer cells in my lymph nodes. Having read most of google prior to my first mammogram I have been left with feeling utterly terrified. I have been told that I will have chemo first - to be fair that's all I heard at that appointment.
I'm not sure if I'm asking a question or seeking reassurance- I guess I'm reaching out to others in a similar position to me.
thanks A
Hello i am so sorry you have been diagnosed recently, i also had triple negative breast cancer diagnosed in beg of march, i also had affected lymph nodes under my arm on same side as breast lump. I really do understand the total panic and fear as i felt exactly the same, what i can say is once i had my treatment plan and started chemo i did feel alot more calmer and that i was starting to get rid of this which was a good feeling. I have had all my chemo now and single mastectomy am just waiting for radiotherapy to start in November. I am wishing lots of luck for your treatment.
Morning MummyBear80,
thank you for your reply, I'm equally sorry to hear that you also have TNBC. I do hope that you are okay and managing to get through this. I'm talking to my consultant this Thursday to discuss treatment plans. I think i just want it to start as I'm worried that it will spread further if we wait any longer.
I would be interested to know if you worked, how you have managed with children (presumably your user name suggests this) - especially when you had Chemo?
many thanks A

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with TNBC. Tribe negative is very treatable these days. I was diagnosed with grade 3 triple negative last year and after having chemo, surgery and radiotherapy I’m now in remission. Try not to get your information from google about triple negative as the information is often out of date.you are better off getting your information from this site or from breast cancer now.
Wishing you the best of luck with your treatment and if you have any questions just ask and I or others on this forum will be able to answer your questions. There is a chemo thread on the breast cancer forum which you could look at to get advice about chemo.
Best wishes

Hello, that's good you will speak with your oncologist on Thursday. Luckily at the moment im not working as need to be home and close to school for my son who has muscular dystrophy so i cant comment about working while having chemo but rhe first round i had i experienced few side effects mostly fatigue so i was very fortunate to bw able to still take the children to school and do things i would normally do with them. My last chemo which i finished a few weeks ago was harder but everyone reacts so differently. The dose was just way too much for me. Good luck for thursday.
Hi MummyBear80,
sounds like you've worked hard to manage this so far. Your son must be very proud of his mummy.
it does sound like everyone feels different with Chemo.
I wonder if you changed your diet for Chemo? Or did you pretty carry on as normal?
congratulations on completing your last Chemo session.

Hello ah thankyou so much you will soon be on your road to recovery and this will all be in the past. I just tried to eat more vegetables and fruits and not as many processed foods, i didnt want big meals during my last lot of chemo so had soups and smaller meals which helped but see how u go. I made sure i drank alot this really helps.
