I have recently been diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer i have had a lumpectomy in comparison to some the tumour was very small  and sentinel node biopsy with 2 nodes removed  and results were clear but I am about to start 4 rounds of chemotherapy and then radiotherapy still awaiting results on genetic testing .It has been so over whelming

What do I expect from chemo it's has been making  me feel really apprehensive and scared

  • Hi  and welcome to the forum.  There is a chemotherapy thread you might have more luck posting on as it's usually quite active CLICK HERE

I didn't need chemo but I have read a lot of posts on here and on the whole most peple find it very doable and not as bad as they thought it would be so try not to be too scared and check out the chemo thread.

Hope it all goes smoothly for you.

  • Hi MissLilah,

Sorry that you have found yourself here. The support you will find from the brave ladies here is wonderful.

I'm 70 years old & was diagnosed on my actual birthday inn June this year with TNBC. &

My oncologist recommended that I consider & apply to go on "The ROSCO Trial", which I did. The trial program was 4 sessions of chemotherapy, followed by surgery, more chemo if necessary finally followed by radiotherapy.

I was accepted onto the trial, had the 4 round of chemo every 3rd week which started on 9th July & finished on 13th Sept. I had a few side-effects after the 1st round - diarrhoea (due to a mix of chemo & my normal prescribed meds which was resolved), lost my hair. 2nd & 3rd rounds of chemo was fine until I had to self inject with Filgrastim to boost my white blood cell count. 4th round of chemo plus Filgrastim knocked me back but fully recovered by the 4th week.

Last Wednesday (20th Oct) I had surgery as a day case patient - Lumpectomy & armpit lymph nodes removed, not sure how many nodes were removed. I did have a drain in my armpit, that was removed yesterday.

I'm now waiting for the path lab results of what was removed & should hear within the next 2 weeks.

Depending on the results, my oncologist will let me know what the next step will be.

Stay safe, take great care of yourself, be kind to yourself & if necessary be selfish as you need to put yourself first.

    Jen Slight smile
