Hi all
i had a lumpectomy and sentinel lymph node removed on Friday. I have stage 1 Grade 3 triple negative bc.
I’m waiting to here if they managed to get all the cancer. They have also said I might have to have chemotherapy and radiotherapy. I just feel so out of the loop and frustrated about what the future holds. Has anyone else been in the same situation xx
Hi Samarah welcome to the forum and I am sorry to hear how frustrated that you are feeling.
I think any of us who have had surgery for Breast Cancer can relate to the level of frustration that you feel right now with the future uncertain. It s the waiting that gets to you most and time often seems to just drag and we can all relate to that as well. The main reason they cant be certain at this point is because of the need to get all the Pathology results back from the lump removed and the lymph node as this will give them a clearer picture of what you and they are dealing with.
Meanwhile try as best that you can to focus on you for a little while and on recovering from your surgery and keep doing the arm exercises they will have given you as these really do help it may not always feels like it but they do.
Sending some gentle hugs your way for now.xxx
Thank you for replying
Even though I have lots of friends and family it seems to be a very lonely. I don’t won’t to keep going on about it but it’s constantly on my mind, as you well know!
I am very glad I’ve found this group though. Have found comfort from reading other peoples experiences
lots of love back
Sam xx
Hi Samarah. I had the same diagnosis end of November last year, Grade 3, triple negative, ductal cancer, and have now had the lump and the lymph nodes removed. Seeing the Oncology team on 2nd February. There is always waiting and around two weeks every time and although it is frustrating in the grand scheme of things from diagnosis to surgery is less than six weeks and treatment starts when fully healed so actually I should pretty quick. As you can tell I am an optimist and this helped me enormously but so also did talking to my friends, who have been fantastic. A friend has got me doing yoga on line and that has been very good to concentrate and calm and focus me every morning before I start my day. There I also a ballet class by the Royal Academy of Dance which is worth a look. The future is rosy if you take the treatment is what I am moving my thoughts to, and that has taken some hardworking to get to. Hope you can find something to help you still those frustrated feelings. Gwennie
Hi Gwennie.
It really helps to talk to other people about their experiences.
I think I need to be more patient. Like you said in the grand scheme of things it’s not that bad.
I just think everything was so geared up towards the surgery and now it’s happened I was kind of like what now!
Not long and it will be all systems go again I’m sure.
Good luck for Tuesday with the oncologist.
I think I’m going to go for everything they offer. Then hopefully that will protect me in the future.
wishing you all the best with your treatment. Sam x
