Hello everyone, I joined this group today. I am early in my journey of treatment and had a lumpectomy 10 days ago. My recovery has gone well and I am awaiting results of the sentinel node biopsy before next stage of treatment. This is a new world to me, confusing, frightening at times but also full of new understanding and knowledge, particularly as I have never had a serious illness in my life. So glad to have a space to share all the knowledge, emotions and challenges that this journey may throw up.

I have my lumpectomy on Friday next. Could you say any more about yours and any tips for me? Glad yours  went well. Did you Have to wait a long time on the day? How painful was it? Can you move your arm ok? Were you afraid like I am they could cut the wrong breast?

Warm welcome to the club no one wants to join, but pleased you have found us...

Great to read you seem to be recovering well from surgery, no doubt you now have all those waiting sentinel node results worries and wondering what further treatments will be offered :-/

I'm going to 'tag'  a community champ as she was diagnosed TN and after treatment is now NED (no evidence of disease) and can help answer any questions you may have.

The only silly question is the one that isn't asked, so fire away, we're all here to help Thumbsup tone2

Fingers tightly crossed for your node results, take care, G n' J

Thank you for the reach out. A thirst for knowledge is ever present and I hope this forum can help me with this and the emotional fall out of the knowledge. Look forward to contributing further.

Hi Vibraphone. I went to the hospital at 8 am and went down at 9 am, so all very quick for me. I stayed in hospital until 5 pm and then went home. I was surprised how little pain I felt after and after 2 days stopped taking pain killers. But I suppose everyone is different. I struggled more with post anesthetic nausea than pain. The Brest is marked and checked , so no worries about it being the wrong one. I also had guide wires inserted the day before. Is that happening for you?

my mobility is fine although not doing any heavy lifting but able to do most of my household chores. Walking every day helped and the post op exercises are really important. Good luck, hope it goes well.

    Hi Sea Siren,

Thanks so much for your reply. Guide wires have not been mentioned to me. I am looking forward to it being over.

Hi, I had my op on the 12th so I too am waiting for results, have app on 2nd July.
I haven’t needed pain killers after the first two day’s either and agree the exercises are important.

I felt a relief once this part of my treatment had taken place and am trying to keep myself as fit and healthy as possible for the next stage. Good luck x
