Hi all, just looking for some practical advice on chemo belly/indigestion? I’m on weekly pax and 3 weekly carbo at the moment and each time I have carbo its giving me this horrible burning painful stomach. I had it on EC too and thought I’d got it sorted with laxido but not this time? It literally feels like a broad burning pain going over the top of abdomen right around my back ...I’ve tried gaviscon tablets, herbal teas and to some extent they work but it’s keeping me awake and really painful. Is it worth getting something from GP?

grateful for any advice as on day 3 of this driving me crazy.

    Hi

Seeing as you had this on EC as well do you think it may be tied in with the steroids given during chemo ?

Do you normally take steroids for your Addison's as well ? as some steroids can cause indigestion or reflux.

I would phone and get some advice on this as there is probably something you could be given to ease this better than any over the counter meds.

Hope you can get it sorted, sounds ouchy apart from the sleep loss :-/

    Hi

Have you tried omeprazole? They're good for acid indigestion. Gaviscon works for bit but then gives up. Mint tea is almost as effective.

    Hi ,

thanks for replies. I do think it could be ties to the Dex but not so much the hydrocortisone as it’s lot lower dose. I’m convinced that possibly over chemo days with dex steroids are definitely worse. Will contact GP today and ask for something as I’ve still got few rounds yet and it’s not worth suffering over.

I had omeprezol last year after using NSAIDs for back problems and they were great as I never have tummy problems so fingers crossed they help!

    keep well x

Hi. I had EC then weekly pac and 3 weekly carbo too. I used movicol and that was good then nutritionalist suggested magnesium citrate. Natural vitality do a power called ‘calm’ magnesium citrate. It helped my tummy and help my sleep. Good luck x
