Its been a while since i last posted something but i have finished my 8 sessions of FEC-T chemo and had surgery, i had a single mastectomy with axillary node removal, recovery is going well. I have been to see the surgeon today to get the results of the surgery, there was no cancer in the breast tissue but out of all the lymph nodes they removed 3 tested positive for signs of cancer so i have to have 3 more sessions of chemo, even though my ongologist told me this may happen i was still a little shocked to be told that i needed more chemo.

  • Hi Sim14,

I had chemo before and after surgery. If it’s the same as me I got Capecitabine after which is way easier and your hair doesn’t fall out. I wish you the very best of luck x

Been to see my ongologist today and been told i will be having 3 more sessions of chemo. The type of chemo i will be having is called carbonplatin. I will be having it every 3 weeks, just waitin on a start date but ongologist is hopin to start it next week.

Has anyone else had this type of chemo?

  • Hi Sim41.  I had weekly Carboplatin along with weekly Paclitaxel before surgery and removal of my nodes. It was not easy but I was able to keep working throughout, look after my kids and even managed out for a jog three times a week.  This chemo shrunk my tumour by 90% so definitely worth doing in my opinion!  Keep positive, you’re almost there!

  • Hi

I too had carboplatin with paclitaxil before surgery. I found it manageable and was well for 80% of the time. The other 20% was fatigue, no nausea or sickness.

I had a complete response to chemo and glad I had the extra drug.

    Good luck x
