Hi my name is Maria I am 51 and have just been diagnosed after having biopsies with TN Breast Cancer in my Right breast and also in my lymph nodes I have seen my surgeon who has arranged for me to have ct mri xrays and echo before I have a treatment plan however he did say it will probably be 6 months of chemo then surgery then radiotherapy wow to say I am scared is an understatement but after reading your stories on here has made me realise I am not alone and just how strong and resilient we can be xx
Hiya mariasusan68
I was diagnosed with TN breast cancer last year at the age of 47. I think myself very lucky that it was found and now i am cancer free. My story is in my profile.
One thing i will say is remember everyone is different so treatments may be different and side effects etc, but one thing that is the same is we are all stronger than we think and you will beat this.
DO NOT GOOGLE i didn't know i had triple negative breast cancer until i'd finished my chemotherapy, i came home and did the stupid thing of googling it, i had my self dead and buried, but as i say i am now cancer free. The information on the worldwide web is mainly out of date or completely wrong so avoid at all costs.
Have you had a look in The Breast Cancer Group it gets more people looking in there so lots more opportunities for help, advice and support. This place is amazing, its really does help talking to people who totally get you because they are or they have been through the same.
Make sure you keep coming and talking to us, rant, cry and sometimes we even have a laugh.
Good Luck xx
Hi Thescriptfan
Thanks for your advice and sorry I haven’t replied sooner it’s been a busy few weeks I had MRI &CT scan which showed I had low risk nodes in my lungs which they say looked begnign I have my date next week to start chemo for 6 months and today I thought I was going for an update with consultant and much to my surprise I had 2 tiny titanium clips put into my breast and lymph nodes it all seems very sureal like it’s happening to someone else I am not sleeping very well which makes it hard to function during the day just want to get started now best wishes Maria
It all seems like a bit of a whirlwind doesn’t it, but once my treatment started i felt it was lots easier to cope with.
I had the clips too, I’m fact I think I probably have one still there that they put in an “area of concern” that actually turned out to be nothing.
I have a male friend who seemed a bit concerned when I told him about them and was going for an MRI he was a bit quiet and I said to him, what’s matter?? If you want to know what’s happening just ask me. He said “are you safe to go in an MRI machine with metal in your boob?” Bless him he’d been fretting about it for days. Yes it is safe to go for an MRI with the clips in xx
