Hi I have TNBC
Had my first onc appt yesterday
I'm going to be having Docetaxel and Carboplatin. Anyone else on this regime? Any tips, comments, advice - many thanks.
Hi
I had Docetaxel but not the Carboplatin. I had FEC. I had 4 rounds of Docetaxel. I found Docetaxel a bit tougher than FEC but more for the fact I felt tired between days 3 and 6 but it's very doable.
Drink plenty of water, make sure you take your anti-sickness and steroids and eat little and often.
The thought of chemo and not knowing what to expect is worse than having the chemo itself. I just thought that's one step closer to being better after each one.
X
Thanks Bluebell
Did you have any sickness whilst on Docetaxel?
Louise
Hi Louise
No I didn't have any sickness with any of the chemo. Thw anti-sickness tablets are realky good. Your Oncology team will soon change them if you had any sickness

What about the steroids - did you have any problems with them. I heard they can make you put on weight and also they keep you awake.
Thanks Louise
Hello there's not much i can tell you that the lovely Bluebell22 hasn't already.
Like Bluebell i had FEC-T so had docetaxel but not Carboplatin.
The steroids kept me awake but only for the first night i took them. I wasn't sick because the anti sickness tablets worked a treat.
Just make sure you listen to your body. If you feel tired make sure you rest, have plenty to drink and eat little but often even if you don't feel hungry. I lost my appetite but felt more sick if i hadn't eaten.
As for putting on weight i've always been a porker anyway, but i weigh exactly the same now as i did when i started treatment. Try not to worry about your weight just concentrate on keeping yourself feeling well.
Thanks ! Hope you're doing ok!
- The steroids kept me awake the first night but I was ok after that. I made sure I'd taken them all by lunchtime. I lost about a stone in total but have just about put it all back on. I could do with losing it again. X
Doing good Bluebell22 thank you, Hope you are too. I have my appointment to plan radiotherapy on Friday then once thats done i'll be all finished
Brilliant!! Glad you're well. I'm good thanks. So pleased for you, not long now and it'll all be done xx
Thanks Bluebell for all the helpful advice much appreciated
