Dreaded scans

Hi everyone

I've had two cycles of paclitaxil/carboplatin so far.

A letter just arrived for an untrasound scan on Friday and now I am bricking it.

Anybody had any results from neoadjuvant chemo? My oncologist says the chemo usually works well, but I tend to be the exception not the rule!

Thanks xx

  • Hi

I didn’t have neoadjuvant treatment as I had my mastectomy first, but I just wanted to say, it’s better to have the ultrasound than not, as it will give your team a fuller picture and better treatment for you. I know you know this already but thought it’s worth saying.

Just remember treatment changes all the time, which for me, throws me off a little so I know how you feel. You think you know what’s happening, then something changes and we worry, but it’s all for a good cause in the end.

I just found out I’m not only having radiotherapy to the breast but also the neck, I didn’t know that before last week or expected it, so curve ball!

Wishing you lots of luck and gentle hugs Tina x x

Good Morning i had neoadjuvant chemo and the result was good, once mone had finished it couldn't be seen on the MRI mine was 6cm at the start. it hadn't all gone as when i had a lumpectomy there was still 1mm but thats how much it had shrunk it.

I have now had the all clear, i think they're maybe sending you for a scan to keep a check on whats going on and to make sure the treatment you're having is working for you.

Try not to worry because there might not be anything to worry about.

  • Hi

I had a good response to neo adjuvant chemo, full pathological response.  I did a trial so had 3 MRI's from start to finish of my chemo.  I found it reassuring as I could monitormy progress.

    Hope all goes well x
