New Thyroid cancer

Hi,

I'm currently receiving chemo for breast cancer and have also been told I have an unrelated capillary thyroid cancer. I have a follow up appointment with ENT next week, hopefully for full results, and just wondering what I might expect next. Thyroid cancer found at a different hospital than I have my breast cancer treatment but luckily there are shared electronic records since September and my breast oncologist, who told me the result, is chasing ENT plan.

Any advice gratefully received.

  • Hi LuckyD, sorry to read of your diagnosis both the breast and thyroid cancer. Did you mean papillary thyroid cancer? Mine is medullary and is treated differently as it doesn't respond to the iodine radiation treatment, so mine was tackled surgically. So I  unfortunately can't help you much with advice on your type but saw you hadn't had a reply yet so wanted to say hello. Hopefully this will also bump your post up too. There are alot of kind, experienced people on this forum I'm sure they'll be along with some help and advice for you soon. Best wishes x

  • Thank you for taking the time to reply. I think it is papillary cancer, but I think I didn't take everything in. I should know more on Wed. Hoping OH can get the time off to come with me. I wish you well with your treatment.

  • Good luck with your appointment next week. My advice is to go in with a list of questions beforehand either on your phone or a notebook. My husband comes to most appointments with me when he can and he notes down answers to the questions I ask. I've got a terrible memory so it's useful for me for him to be there!

Do feel free to ask any questions you think of on here too.

  • Hi  lucky d I'm going through the very same thing if I can help in anyway regarding questions need answering I will do my best  hope you are ok
