Hi, I am booked in for a partial thyroidectomy next week, feeling pretty scared and worried if I have made the right choice

  • I am running behind today and only just seen your message, so hopefully by now your operation is over and done with and you are recovering.  Hope so, let me know how you are when you are feeling up to it x

  • Hi Petal, home after my operation, feeling very sore.  I went for the partial removal but apparently it was so close to my windpipe he had to shave it off and thinks it likely I will need more surgery.  So relived to be home, i think all the painkillers in hospital were making me very nauseous, and I could not keep any food down. i am in some pain but have cut down to just paracetamol now.  I am a bit shocked at how little I can do, I guess I have never had surgery before and it's just early days x

  • Just read all your stuff, wow you really have been through a lot.  I hope they can sort your voice out soon x

  • At least it is over with now and you can concentrate on your recovery @Daisy7.  It is scary when it is so near to your windpipe and I can image the relief you feel at getting it over and done with, I was the same just so relieved to get through the operaton which was around 7 hours long.

  • Your message just popped up as I was replying to you @Daisy7.  I was called from the hospital the other day as they want to do another CT scan with contrast dye, which is what I had originally when I was first diagnosed.  Hoping this is normal procedure and my Oncologist has asked for it before making the 4th appointment to see her following RAI treatment just before Xmas.  I have had 3 appointments cancelled so far.  Still waiting for the date of my op for my vocal cords and not looking forward to it although it is minor compared to TT and neck dissection, it is in such a delicate place and I am hoping it goes well with no problems.  Hope you are ok, and I would rest as much as possible, just need to take care of yourself and get back to  some normality.  Worry about further surgery later, with a bit of luck you might not need it.  Fingers crossed for you x

  • Hi Daisy

Glad your surgery is over with, I’m wishing you a speedy recovery
