Hello everyone.  I just joined.  I hope you are all on the mend. Does any of you felt down or depressed during or after your treatment. I had my operation last November and my RAI end of April beginning of May. I work as a cook. Recently I feel like I am unable to do my job properly. I can't focus and I just feel very upset. I'm not sure why I'm feeling like this and how can I overcome how I'm feeling. Maybe some of you are experiencing the same or is it just me?

  • Hi I just wanted to say hi and welcome to group I’m not sure I have any answers for you my young daughter has only just started her treatment and hasn’t had her RAI yet but i feel like she could be already suffering mood swings or that could just be her pre teen moods kicking in. So I would be interested to see any responses you get.

i hope your feeling better soon and you get some support from this group, so far it’s been really helpful to me as a parent navigating this new world of thyroid cancer.

  • Hi

I know what you mean. I think that it is important to think about. I ignored how I was feeling until I was so highly strung that the smallest thing was too much...I didn't even realise that I was depressed until I went to the GP and he did the usual scales - it was an eye opener.

I don't know about you but when I was told about my diagnosis, it went something like, if you were going to get cancer, this is probably the one you want...until recently, not many people knew about my diagnosis  - I think that I had almost a sense of embarrassment in a way  - and I was diagnosed over 5 years ago! I have to keep reminding myself that I am a cancer survivor  - and so are you!

You should speak to your GP about how you are feeling now rather than letting it fester.

You are not alone, take good care and be kind to yourself x
