Hi,

I had a thyroid mass and cystic neck lymph bode picked up at an unrelated MRI scan in July.

since then have had ultrasounds and biopsies x 2, ct, mri, pet scans and the usual bloods etc all of which has been inconclusive. Had selective neck dissection 2 weeks ago to try and get diagnosis. Apparently, lymph nodes where mine is are usually metastatic to a primary in tonsil or thyroid, neither of which showed on pet scan. Had been a very anxious 2 weeks( as well as the 7 months of investigations)and I go to oncology clinic in Edinburgh today for results.

Are there any questions anyone wishes thwy had asked, apart from the suggested ones on this site? Has anyone else been in this situation?

NHS has been great- have private health care but NHS was faster on all but one occasion

  • Hi Avril

sorry I can’t answer you question and I’m sure someone will answer soon but just wanted to say I hope it all went well.

I too have had a inconclusive but this was after being diagnosed with thyroid cancer  almost four years ago.

I have since had another biopsy and I have been asked to come in on Monday evening.

please keep us updated  and good luck

  • Thanks Rose

looks like I will be staying in the group. Much to the team’s surprise, results came back with papillary thyroid cancerFrowning2️Apparently it hasn’t been typical presentation at all and thyroid didn’t show any uptake of the radioactive glucose on pet scan.

It is such a relief, in a way , to have a diagnosis and can now go forward with treatment.

Hope Monday goes well for tou

    Avril
